On Tuesday, February 8, 2005, the Egyptian Theatre, in association with ASIFA-Hollywood, will present a program of work from Oscar-nominated Canadian animator Chris Landreth, followed by a discussion hosted by AWNs co-publisher Ron Diamond. AWN will be giving away five pairs of tickets to the event. To be eligible, e-mail your name, phone number and e-mail address to AWNs managing editor Rick DeMott at rick@awn.com by Feb. 6, 2005.

Landreth began his career as an engineer, not an animator. When he made the leap to animation, that training came in handy while working for Alias/Wavefront, where he tested new animation software, before it was released to the public. This led to his first two shorts, THE END and BINGO. Chris has evolved into a realm of animation he calls "psycho-realism" with his latest short RYAN, which challenges our notions of documentary and animation. We will also show two of Ryan Larkin's shorts, the acclaimed, mysterious animator and subject of RYAN. The following films will screen, although not necessarily in order listed.

The screening will include THE END, BINGO and RYAN as well as Ryan Larkins WALKING and STREET MUSIQUE. The 7:30 pm program will take place at the Lloyd E. Rigler Theatre at the historic 1922 Egyptian (6712 Hollywood Boulevard between Highland and Las Palmas) in Hollywood.
