AOD 2006: The San Francisco Animation Convention

AOD 2006 is operated by the Federation for the Promotion of Animation, a not-for-profit organization established to educate people on the art of animation and make use of its richness to promote cross-cultural learning and understanding in a fun, family-oriented environment. Formerly known as Anime Overdose, AOD 2005 was packed with all-star guests, events and tons of family-friendly fun.

The concept of AOD started back in 1997 as an informal weekly gathering of people called AniMov. In 2000, AniMov changed its name to Anime Overdose, and in 2003 the staff of Anime Overdose teamed up with Santa Clara University's anime club to make the first Anime Overdose event happen at the university. In 2004, the event was held again at Santa Clara University and drew more than 800 people to the campus. After that, the decision was made to move the convention to San Francisco and change the focus from Japanese animation to all forms of animation (with an emphasis on American cartoons).
