Studio 100 Film Presents Teaser Trailer for ‘Maya the Bee – The Honey Games’

Munich-based Studio 100 Film presents a brand-new teaser trailer for the forthcoming second feature installment in the ‘Maya the Bee’ franchise, featuring clumsy soldier ants, Arnie and Barney.

CANNES -- Just in time for the Marché du Film, Studio 100 Film presents a new teaser trailer for the forthcoming animated feature Maya the Bee – The Honey Games. The trailer reacquaints audiences with the scatter-brained army ants Arnie and Barney, who promise fresh and funny adventures alongside Maya and friends in this new installment. Munich-based Studio 100 Film is the international sales agency for the worldwide rights to Maya, which will be released in December 2017.

The Honey Games explores another heart-warming tale of Maya and her best, buggy meadow friends. When an overenthusiastic Maya accidentally embarrasses the Empress of Buzztropolis, she is forced to unite with a team of misfit bugs and compete in the Honey Games. Maya will venture beyond the hive and meet new opponents and challenges. Fortunately, her best friend Willy, the loveable but clumsy ants Arnie and Barney and her trustworthy advisor, Flip the grasshopper, will all be by her side.

Studio 100 Film has signed agreements for Maya with Filmax (Russia) and Garsu Pasaulio Irasai (Lithuania). Filmax has acquired the theatrical, TV and home entertainment rights for the CIS territories, and Garsu Pasaulio Irasai for Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The second Maya movie has been sold in 110 countries.

“We are delighted to win Filmax and Garsu Pasaulio Irasai, two highly valued partners, for the new theatrical feature of our popular little bee. Maya’s second adventure will be presented to audiences in Russia and the CIS territories as well as in the Baltics -- we are convinced that Maya’s new movie will entertain children and families there,” comments Thorsten Wegener, Director, Business Operations for Studio 100 Film.

“After receiving a lot of smiles from little kids and having success with the first part of Maya the Bee 1 – First Flight we are happy to bring its second part full of friendship and heart-warming feelings to the Baltics,” says Gitana Jurone, Managing Director of Garsu Pasaulio Irasai.

“We are extremely happy to acquire rights for Maya the Bee 2. It is a wonderful story with heart for family audiences. The worldwide recognition of the brand is growing fast. We believe it will be a huge success for us,” says Press Secretary Gennady Ivanov.

Maya the Bee – The Honey Games is produced by Studio 100 Media, in co-production with Australian animation company Studio B Animation and in association with Flying Bark Productions.

Based on a German children’s novel, Maya the Bee 1 – First Flight hit theaters in 2014. The book has been translated into many languages and enjoyed by children all over the world.
