ComingSoon.net has received confirmation from AMC that WALKING DEAD writer/exec producer Glen Mazzara will take over showrunner duties following the surprise departure of show creator Frank Darabont. AMC is in discussions with Darabont on whether he will remain in any capacity on the hit series. DEAD comic creator Robert Kirkman and Gale Anne Hurd are the exec producers. The show is set to return on Oct. 16.
