Netflix Drops ‘Blue Eye Samurai’ Episode 1 Sneak Peek

Streamer shares trailer, ‘Behind the Animation’ short, and an entire episode, all ahead of show’s highly-anticipated November 3 debut; the adult animated debut; the adult animated series, set in Edo-period Japan, tells the story of a master of the sword who lives a life in disguise seeking revenge.

Ahead of its November 3 streaming debut, Netflix has shared a trailer for the first episode of its eight-episode adult animation series, Blue Eye Samurai. The episode is also available in its entirety on Netflix’s YouTube channel – as well as below! Set in Edo-period Japan, it tells the story of a mixed-race master of the sword who lives a life in disguise, seeking the deliverance of revenge. The show promises to immerse viewers in a world of “vivid adult animation with a live-action edge.”

The streamer also released Blue Eye Samurai “Behind the Animation,” giving insight into the challenges and rewards of translating the series script into stunning animation.

Amber Noizumi and Michael Green are the show’s creators, writers, and executive producers. Erwin Stoff is also executive producer, with Jane Wu serving as supervising director and producer. The animation is by Blue Spirit Animation Studio.

Blue Eye Samurai stars Maya Erskine (Mizu); George Takei (Seki); Masi Oka (Ringo); Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (The Swordmaker); Brenda Song (Akemi); Darren Barnet (Taigen); Randall Park (Heiji Shindo); and Kenneth Branagh (Abijah Fowler). The supporting voice cast includes Stephanie Hsu (Ise); Ming-Na Wen (Madame Kaji); Harry Shum Jr. (Takayoshi); and Mark Dacascos (Chiaki).
