Jon Snow ‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel No Longer in Development

The series never gained traction after being shelved during the WGA strike, with actor Kit Harrington revealing, ‘it’s off the table,’ because the team, ‘couldn’t find the right story to tell.’

Say it ain’t Snow! The Game of Thrones spinoff series Snow, which was set to follow Jon Snow in his exploits North of the Wall, has been officially canned, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project had been on hold since last year’s WGA strike, but never gained needed traction to move forward.

Mr. Snow himself, Kit Harington, revealed the sad news during an interview with ScreenRant, admitting the project is “off the table” at HBO, and that the team, “couldn’t find the right story to tell.”

“I hadn’t really ever spoken about it, because it was in development,” Harington said. “I didn’t want it leaked out that it was being developed. I didn’t want the thing to happen where people kind of start theorizing, getting either excited about it or hating the idea of it, when it may never happen. Because in development, you look at every angle, and you see whether it’s worth it.”

“And currently, it’s not,” he continued. “Currently, it’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.”

Despite the disheartening news, the Game of Thrones universe is far from dead. Fans can look forward to House of the Dragon Season 2Ten Thousand Ships, Sea SnakeThe Hedge Knight, and Aegon’s Conquest.
