Jackson’s Kong Golden with Globes

The Hollywood Foreign Press Assoc. announced the nominees for the 2005 Golden Globe awards. To interest for the visual effects community, Peter Jackson earned himself a Best Director nomination for KING KONG, which also received a Best Score nod for James Newton Howard.

In addition, THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBEs Alanis Morissette song "Wunderkind and Harry Gregsons score were nominated. Comicbook fans will be delighted with A HISTORY OF VIOLENCEs nods for Best Picture Drama and Best Actress Drama for Maria Bello. Moreover, KUNG FU HUSTLE was honored with a Best Foreign Film nod.

But the big surprise of the Golden Globes was Steven Spielbergs highly-anticipated MUNICH not receiving a nomination for Best Picture, despite Spielberg receiving a nod for direction and the film garnering a screenplay nomination. Ang Lees gay cowboy love story BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN led the nominees with seven nominations, including Best Picture Drama along with VIOLENCE, THE CONSTANT GARDENER, GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK and MATCH POINT.

As for the TV nominations, shows with vfx work took a majority of the Best Drama nods, which included LOST, PRISON BREAK and ROME as well as COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF and GREYS ANATOMY.

The 63rd Golden Globes ceremony will take place Jan. 16, 2006, at 8:00 pm and will be televised on NBC.
