Gravity Launches West Coast Office

International, content creation and brand communications company Gravity has launched a West Coast office to be helmed by Karin Levinson, Vice President of Features and Television.

New York and Santa Monica, (January 3, 2011) – International, content creation and brand communications company Gravity has launched a West Coast office to be helmed by Karin Levinson, Vice President of Features and Television. The new office, based in Santa Monica, will be fully integrated with Gravity’s New York, Connecticut, and Tel Aviv operations. The announcement was made today by Zviah Eldar, CEO, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Gravity.

Eldar and Levinson also announced that Gravity has been named the sole visual effects vendor for two upcoming Warner Bros. films: “Crazy, Stupid, Love” and “Arthur,” with visual effects work on “Crazy, Stupid, Love” being produced by Gravity/Los Angeles, and visual effects work on “Arthur” being produced by Gravity/New York.  In addition, Gravity’s NY operation has just been awarded visual effects work for the Universal Pictures’ film “Tower Heist,” directed by Brett Ratner.

Gravity recently produced and delivered visual effects work, along with creating the main titles design, for the upcoming Universal Pictures’ film “Adjustment Bureau,” from its base in New York.  The company served as the lead VFX house on the project.  “Adjustment Bureau,” starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt, will be released in March 2011.

Regarding the company expansion, Eldar said, “We are delighted that our work in the area of visual effects for major studio and independent feature films, as well as for television projects, continues to evolve on such a rapid basis.  This success has allowed us to now establish a West Coast operation, as we further evolve the outreach of our company.”

Formerly known as RhinoFX, Gravity’s Feature Film and Television division was founded in 2005. The company’s most recent feature film visual effects include contributions to "Salt" (Columbia Pictures), "The Other Guys" (Columbia Pictures), and "I Love You Phillip Morris" (Roadside Attractions/Mad Chance Prods./Europa Film Corp).  

During the past five years, Gravity has also created visual effects for such high profile films as "The Reader" (The Weinstein Co.), "Soul Men" (Dimension Films), "Ghost Town" (Gravity was sole visual effects vendor for DreamWorks/Paramount), "Cop Out" (Gravity was sole visual effects vendor for Warner Bros.), "The Nanny Diaries" (Gravity was sole visual effects vendor for MGM/The Weinstein Co.), “Grace is Gone” (The Weinstein Co.), and "Perfect Stranger" (Gravity was sole visual effects vendor for Sony Pictures/Revolution Studios).

In the area of television, Gravity’s visual effects credits include imagery seen within episodes of the hit HBO series “The Sopranos,” “Bored to Death” and “Sex and the City.” The company also created the main titles for the feature film, “Lottery Ticket”, for Alcon Entertainment/Warner Bros., and for the Lionsgate Television series, “Crash”, among others. 

About Karin Levinson

Since 2005, Karin Levinson, as VP of Features and Television, has been responsible for spearheading new business opportunities in the areas of visual effects and motion graphic design on behalf of Gravity.  She serves as the Feature and Television division’s Executive Producer with major movie studios, television networks and production companies, while also spearheading Gravity’s expansionary efforts into Stamford, CT and now Los Angeles.  Levinson is proficient in providing her feature film clients with tax credits and incentives on the visual effects and design work produced on their behalf by Gravity’s offices in New York, Los Angeles, Stamford, CT., and Tel Aviv. 

Prior to her work with Gravity, Levinson was, from 2002-05, an Executive Producer and VFX Producer at Black Box Digital.  Among the projects with which Levinson was involved during this time were "Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and “Hellboy”.

As an independent producer, Levinson produced the feature documentary "Let Me In, I Hear Laughter” (A Salute to the Friars Club), for HBO.  Earlier, she worked at both Amblin Entertainment and DreamWorks SKG for several years in Feature Animation and Feature Production.  Levinson began her entertainment industry career working as an apprentice film editor on New Line Cinema’s hit comedy, “The Mask.”
