Go Go Gojira: Original ‘Godzilla Singular Point’ Anime Series Heading to Netflix

Coming to the streaming giant in 2021, show features a brand-new story and cast, and is being produced by bones (‘My Hero Academy’) and Orange (‘Beastars’).

Gojira is on his way! Studios bones and Orange are teaming up on a brand-new original Godzilla anime series, Godzilla Singular Point, set to run globally on Netflix in 2021. The series marks the iconic beast’s return to Netflix following the success of Godzilla anime films, Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters, Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle, and Godzilla: The Planet Eater.

The series, produced with a combination of hand-drawn and CG animation, is directed by Atsushi Takahashi (Doraemon the Movie 2017: Great Adventure in the Antarctic Kachi Kochi). His creative team includes Kan Sawada, composer for countless Doraemon films and series such as Yowamushi Pedal; Japanese science-fiction novelist Toh Enjoe making his TV debut as series editor and writer; Kazue Kato, creator of Blue Exorcist and the hit comic currently serialized in “Jump Square” as the character designer; animator Eiji Yamamori, from Studio Ghibli films including Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and The Wind Rises, providing Kaiju design.

Bones, founded by Sunrise staff members Masahiko Minami, Hiroshi Ousaka and Toshihiro Kawamoto in 1998, is known for its dynamic animated action sequences such as robot animations; their projects include My Hero Academia, Psalms of Planets Eureka seven, and Netflix’s original anime series, Carole & Tuesday.

Orange, founded in 2004 by famed CG animator Eiji Inomoto, specializes in an exaggerated 3D and directing style, which differs from the traditional movement often found in CG works; their projects include Land of the Lustrous, Monster Strike The Movie 2 Sora no Kanata, and the Netflix original anime series, Beastars
