Fockers Edge Grit at U.S. New Years Box Office

Paramount's TRUE GRIT holed up in second, collecting another $24.5 million. The Coen Brothers' Western (with vfx from Creature Effects, Luma Pictures, Special FX International, Tinsley Studio and Wolf Stuntworks) has rounded up $86.8 million to date.

Buena Vista's TRON: LEGACY raced into third with another $18.3 million. With visual effects provided by Digital Domain, Mr. X and Prime Focus, the epic sci-fi tale has brought in $130.9 million.

Moving up one spot, Warner Bros.' YOGI BEAR snatched an additional $13 million. With vfx from Rhythm & Hues, Entity FX and NeoReel, the live-action animation feature film (aka LAFF) earned $66.1 million in three weeks.

Fox-Walden's THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER slipped to fifth with a $10.5 million haul. With vfx from 4DMax, Cinesite, Framestore, Fugitive Studios, Mark Roberts Motion Control, Matte Painting UK, The Moving Picture Company (MPC), Prime Focus Film, The Senate Visual Effects, Spectrum Effects and The Third Floor, the Aslan adventure has sailed away with $87.1 million thus far.

In sixth, Disney's TANGLED roped an additional $10 million. The hip Rapunzel tale has collected $168 million.

Paramount's THE FIGHTER punched its way into seventh with $10 million. With visual effects from Comen VFX, David O. Russell's boxing flick has scored $46.4 million.

Fox’s GULLIVER’S TRAVELS landed in eighth for another week, bringing in $9.1 million. With vfx from Weta, Scanline, Hydraulx, Method Studios, Pixel Playground, GEON and Tata, the new version of the classic tale has earned $27.2 million thus far.

Fox Searchlight's BLACK SWAN swam into ninth again with $8.45 million. With vfx from Look Effects, the psychological thriller has danced away with $47.4 million to date.

The Weinstien Co.'s THE KING'S SPEECH talked its way into the top ten with $7.65 million. The Oscar hopeful has a cume of $22.8 million.
