THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON won the BAFTA award for Special Visual Effects over THE DARK KNIGHT, INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, IRON MAN and QUANTUM OF SOLACE.

In the Short Animation category, WALLACE AND GROMIT: A MATTER OF LOAF AND DEATH won over CODSWALLOP and VARMINTS.
WALTZ WITH BASHIR and PERSEPOLIS also lost out on the Film Not in the English Language category to I'VE LOVED YOU SO LONG. THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX and GOMORRAH were also nominated.
