Rob O'Neill Named VP, Program Scheduling at Cartoon Network

Rob O’Neill has been named to the newly-created position of vice president, program scheduling at Cartoon Network, it was announced today by Stacey Isenhower, senior vice president of programming and scheduling for Cartoon Network and Boomerang.

Rob O’Neill has been named to the newly-created position of vice president, program scheduling at Cartoon Network, it was announced today by Stacey Isenhower, senior vice president of programming and scheduling for Cartoon Network and Boomerang.

O’Neill’s primary responsibilities will include supervising the day-to-day on-air program scheduling of both Cartoon Network and Boomerang.  He also will serve as departmental lead for long-range calendar planning, working to develop creative strategies for on-air stunts and special events surrounding the network’s growing library of original, acquired and classic animated and live-action family-targeted programming.  O’Neill will be based in Atlanta and report directly to Isenhower.

“Rob brings with him a well-deserved reputation for professionalism and creativity within our industry,” said Isenhower.  “We are delighted that he has moved to Atlanta for a new challenge working with Cartoon Network and Boomerang.”

O’Neill joins Cartoon Network following thirteen years at Disney ABC Cable Networks Group, part of The Walt Disney Company, where he worked in programming strategy and acquisitions.  Among his accomplishments, he helped to transition the Disney Channel from a premium to a basic cable television service, and served on the launch team of Toon Disney, now Disney XD.  O’Neill began his tenure with Disney ABC Cable Networks Group in 1997 in original programming at Disney Channel and then became one of the first employees at SOAPnet, assisting in the repurposing of same-day episodes of popular daytime dramas such as All My Children and Days of Our Lives, as well as prime time series favorites The Gilmore Girls and Beverly Hills 90210.  Additionally, O’Neill served as creative executive on the 2008 Daytime Emmys red carpet special for the network.

O’Neill also boasts a long and varied track record in the world of live events.  He is a partner in the concert/theatrical booking company Spot-On Entertainment (Los Angeles) and has produced and/or presented more than 100 theatrical events.  O’Neill also has produced award-winning mountings of top musical theater productions and tours, including Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Mame and A Little Night Music.  Furthermore, he served as executive producer of IN GOOD COMPANY, a musical benefit for tsunami relief.

O’Neill earned a bachelor’s of arts degree in theatre and communication arts from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA.
