Interesting. My boss asked me that (which surprised me that he would refer to Mad Magazine). Actually, I just started doodling it really fast; just straight into Flash with the Wacom tablet. I didn't think about it too much. After the first rough draft I decided he kind of reminded me of the little guy (with the big nose) from the Pink Panther cartoons. So I moved it more in that direction as I refined things.
I WAS raised on Mad, though, so that influence is always in whatever I do.
