Toy Story 3 scrapped

From a newsletter I recieved today. Not sure if this is good or bad but thought most would want to see this...

I love that movie and I would be pissed if they made a sequel.

yeah, I'm up in the air about it. I love the movie too, so would naturally like to get more of it, but I know that the margin for error is very high for sequels. Oh well, it will never happen, so it's not like I'm gonna lose sleep over it!

Speaking of sequels, would anyone be interested in a sequel to "The Iron Giant"?

The ending was left wide open for one, that's for sure. What if Brad Bird was to write and direct the sequel?

The only thing that annoyed me about "The Iron Giant" is that I thought they went too far with the ending. We "got" that the screw was being called by the giant, since we'd seen it earlier in the movie. I don't think it was necessary to show all the parts traveling toward the head in the final shots. It made explicit what was implied. It seemed like a concession to the "kiddie" audience (who are much smarter than we generally give them credit for...).

I literally stop watching the movie when the shot with the screw dissolves to the shot in the arctic - makes for a better ending :D

The best way to enjoy Alone in the Dark is to stop the movie before it ever starts.

I'm dead serious, my only regret in life was watching that movie. I still don't know what it was doing in our house or remember how I got saddled with it.

I never seen the book that the movie was based on but I think they were trying to stay true to the book. The movie would work without the arctic scene but maybe the writer had his reasons for it. We will never know. :(

Spirted Away is on this weekend so if you have cable...

I loved that movie and I would accept a sequel ONLY if Brad Bird wrote and directed it. Otherwise no.

I doubts it's ever gonna get a sequel anyway. It flopped at the box office :( :(

I have read the book the movie was based on. It's a children's book for young readers (6-7 years old, lots of pictures), and the story isn't anywhere close to the one in the movie. The only similarity is the iron giant coming to Earth and befriending a young boy. In the book, the IG defends Earth against some giant space-dragons by challenging them to a "laying on the Sun" contest.

Ok, that is weird. "Day The Earth Stood Still" is the same way, the movie was based on someone's literary efforts but the movie was very different from the book.

Aww, well toy story 1 was good, tim burton basically mastered CGI with that one. At least burtons doing new stuff like corpse bride, which i just got on dvd and is a bad-ass movie!

In my fannish of fan-hearts........knowing that Iron Giant is set in the 50's..........my head would explode from glee if Iron Giant battled Godzilla.

Sorry, but I am just "that" way......

And I dearly love Iron Giant as it is, too.

eh? Tim Burton didnt work on Toy Story and hasnt even made a GCI film, Corpse Bride was all clay and such if thats what your referring to.

Hmmm, very interesting. Disney is the king of sequels: Pocohantas 2, lady and the trap 2, Jungle book 2, Little Mermaid 2, etc. Good for Lasseter to know when to stop something and spend efforts on new and original concepts!

I Hope So!

God! I hope thats certifiable. I absolutely despise sequels especially to movies that were originally great. Now i did love Toy Story 2, correct me if i'm wrong, but for me its the only animated sequel that actually surpasses the first film. But I think making a third film is a little to much. take Jurrassic Park the 1st and the sequel were great but the third movie just totally, destroyed, demolished, obilitarated, annihilated the great story and film ( & the respect) that the first two had created (regardless of its box office success). so i'm crossing my fingers for that article being authentic.

PS --I would (and i wouldn't) love to see a sequel to the Incredibles though. I wouldn't won't to see it in actual production because i dthink the film is "incredible' just as is, but i would love to just see what they could come up with for a storyline. Maybe I'll right my own script: The Incredibles 2!!! though it won't have the genius that is Brad Bird.

What would scooby do?

The rumor I heard (and this is referencing some material from before the merger) is that Lasseter saw a different story line with the Toy Story bunch. Implying that they may be scrapping the Disney storyline, but there was enough interest (by Pixar) that they may still do another sequel with the Pixar team. Of course, who knows now.

There's so much 'instant' money to be had with it, I wouldn't doubt that there will be a Toy Story 3 someday. It's just nice knowing that it will be Pixar behind it now.

Yeah, Lasseter is now head of Disney animation and I'm pretty sure he's scrapping a lot of other planned Disney sequels to their own movies and to Pixar movies. Cinderella part 4, Snow White 2, Monsters Inc. 2 ect. ect.

Well, since we're going for facts...

Corpse Bride wasn't clay - it was foam puppets.
