Zoic Teams with Industrial Toys For ‘Midnight Star’ Launch

Culver City-based visual effects shop partners with independent game studio to enhance the visual experience for the launch of the company’s debut title.

Los Angeles, CA -- For the launch of the highly anticipated mobile sci-fi shooter Midnight Star, Culver City-based visual effects shop Zoic Studios has partnered with independent game studio Industrial Toys to enhance the visual experience for this immersive adventure. This is Industrial Toys’ debut title, having launched by Bungie co-founder Alex Seropian in 2012 to create great mobile games for core gamers.

The partner interactive graphic novel app, “Midnight Rises,” was launched on January 29th from Hugo-award winning author John Scalzi, with imagery by legendary comic book artist Mike Choi and further engulfs viewers into the intricate world of the Midnight Star franchise. Midnight Star, a mobile game that was custom-crafted for touch screen devices, officially launches for players today, February 5th.

This marks Zoic’s first experience collaborating on the launch of a game title. With a broad range of work in the gaming space including promo campaigns and trailers for the likes of Call of Duty, Halo, and FIFA coupled with extensive award-winning sci-fi work for such top shows as Firefly, Battlestar Galactica and The 100, Zoic’s background well poised to augment the extraterrestrial imagery for this title. The Zoic team handled the vivid and action-packed game trailers for “Midnight Star” as well as the in-game cinematics.

As 2nd Lt. Charles Campbell of the MSRV-17 Joplin, players will encounter deep space, a strange alien landscape, and a war that has long since been lost. Using the clues left to him, his crew, and a TON of awesome guns, Charlie must develop from modest excommunications specialist to the one human being left with the means to take down the bad guys.
