Tigger Bounces High In Sweden, Scary Debuts In IBO

The international box office this past weekend saw a strong debut by SCARY MOVIE in the U.K. and THE TIGGER MOVIE bounced high in its Swedish nod. Disneys orange idol landed in #2, with a gross of US$280,418. Slipping to fourth, CHICKEN RUN laid another $184,548, bringing its total take in Sweden to $589,026. THE PERFECT STORM sank from #2 to sixth with a gross of $146,588, raising its Swedish cume to $834,053. X-MEN fell from fifth to eighth, with a gross of $78,087, lifting its Swedish cume to $1.43 million. The international summer sensation, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE II placed ninth, adding $63,081 to its $2.92 million Swedish cume. Swedens summer smash, GLADIATOR, garnered another $62,254 in tenth, elevating its cume to $4.44 million. SCARY MOVIE fared very well in debuts in the U.K. and Australia. In the land of the Union Jack, SCARY secured $4.07 million. Homeland helmer Guy Ritchies new flick, SNATCH, slipped to second with a gross of $2.49 million, escalating its impressive 10-day British cume to $9.34 million. Falling to third, X-MEN extended its purse with an additional $990,320, raising its British cume to $18.88 million. Hovering in fourth, CHICKEN RUN raked up $350,975, advancing its British cume to a gigantic $39.27 million. STUART LITTLE landed in fifth, with a gross of $342,787, bringing its British cume to $23.2 million. Slipping a slot to place 7th, GONE IN 60 SECONDS crossed the finish line with another $253,464, lifting its British earnings to $10.36 million. PERFECT STORM parked in 8th, adding $145,975 to its $12.49 million British cume. Down Under, SCARY MOVIE grabbed $1.04 million in first place, raising its 10-day cume to $2.96 million. After two weeks in Australian theatres, HOLLOW MAN has fallen to fourth, with a gross of $312,281, advancing its cume to $2.03 million. Toons made lackluster premieres in Australia with POKEMON THE MOVIE 2000 and THE ROAD TO EL DORADO making nods in 8th and 9th respectively. POKEMON made $88,118 over the weekend while EL DORADO brought home $84,162 and $95,693 since Wednesday.
