‘La Chute’ Wins Two of 13 Annecy 2018 Special Prizes

The honors presented June 15 honor student efforts, original music, French films and more. 

Boris Labbé’s ‘La Chute’ won the FIPRESCI Award and the André-Martin Special Distinction for a French Short Film honor at the 2018 Annecy International Animation Festival.

ANNECY, FRANCE -- The Annecy International Animation Film Festival has announced the winners of the 2018 Special Prizes, with Boris Labbé’s short film La Chute doubling up and taking home the FIPRESCI Award and the André-Martin Award for a French Short Film.

They are:

  • Festivals Connexion Award: Bloeistraat 11, directed by Nienke Deutz; produced by Lunanime Bvba, Need Productions, Windmill Film, Beast Animation; Belgium, The Netherlands.
  • Junior Jury Award for a Graduation Film: Inanimate, directed by Lucia Bulgheroni; produced by National Film and Television School; United Kingdom.
  • Junior Jury Award for a Short Film: The Death, Dad & Son, directed by Denis Walgenwitz and Vincent Paronnaud (Winshluss); produced by Je Suis Bien Content, Schmuby Productions; France.
  • Young Audience Award: Vivat musketeers!, directed by Anton Dyakov; produced by Soyuzmultfilm; Russia.
  • FIPRESCI Award: La Chute, directed by Boris Labbé; produced by Sacrebleu Productions; France.
  • Best Original Music Award for a Short Film, sponsored by the SACEM: Denis Vautrin for Cadavre exquis; Stéphanie Lansaque, François Leroy; produced by Je Suis Bien Content; France.
  • Best Original Music Award for a Feature Film, sponsored by the SACEM: Mychael and Jeff Danna, for The Breadwinner, directed by Nora Twomey; produced by Cartoon Saloon; Canada, Ireland, Luxembourg.
  • Gan Foundation Award for Distribution: The Swallows of Kabul, directed by Éléa Gobbé-Mévellec and Zabou Breitman; produced by Les Armateurs, Mélusine Production, Close Up Films; France, Luxembourg, Switzerland.
  • "CANAL+ Creative Aid" Award for a Short Film: Happiness, directed by Steve Cutts; United Kingdom.
  • André-Martin Award for a French Feature Film: The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales, directed by Benjamin Renner and Patrick Imbert; produced by Folivari, Panique!, StudioCanal, RTBF / BE TV; France.
  • André-Martin Award for a French Short Film: This Magnificent Cake!, directed by Marc James Roels and Emma de Swaef; produced by Best Animation, Vivement Lundi!, Pedri Animation BV; Belgium, France, The Netherlands.
  • André-Martin Special Distinction for a French Short Film: La Chute, directed by Boris Labbé; produced by Sacrebleu Productions; France.
