LOS ANGELES, Feb. 15, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- IMAX Corporation (NYSE:IMAX) (TSX:IMX) and DreamWorks Studios announced today that the suspense thriller, I Am Number Four, from director D.J. Caruso, will be released in the immersive IMAX format on Friday, February 18. The film will open on 228 IMAX screens domestically, simultaneous with its North American wide release. I Am Number Four will also be released to at least 96 IMAX screens internationally, with nine screens opening day-and-date. Additional international playdates are expected to be confirmed in the coming days.

About I Am Number Four:
Extraordinary teen John Smith (Alex Pettyfer) is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events-his first love (Dianna Agron), powerful new abilities and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny.
The film is directed by D.J. Caruso and produced by Michael Bay with Chris Bender, J.C. Spink and David Valdes serving as executive producers. Alfred Gough, Miles Millar and Marti Noxon wrote the screenplay, based on the book by Pittacus Lore.
This film has been rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, and for language.
