Curious Labs, developers of 3D character and design tools Poser and Poser Pro Pack, has signed an agreement with Adobe Systems where the two companies have agreed to work together on technology, content and marketing activities for Adobe Atmosphere software and Curious Labs' avatar-creation tools. Atmosphere world builders will have an easy system for building custom avatars. Additionally, both Adobe and Curious Labs incorporate Viewpoint technology, resulting in smooth skinned, bending 3D characters from Poser Pro Pack that can be used as avatars in Atmosphere 3D worlds. Curious Labs and Adobe will participate jointly in a variety of tradeshows and events throughout the coming year - beginning with Siggraph, 2001 - to demonstrate and promote the alliance. Additionally, both companies will be engaged in public training on avatar creation and the processes involved with creating Atmosphere worlds and the avatars. "This alliance with Curious Labs builds a strategic link with the developers of a great complimentary product set and technology that enhances the Atmosphere experience with animated, smooth skin 3D avatars," said Addy Roff, senior product marketing manager at Adobe. "They bring a diverse community of Poser Pro Pack users to the mix that ultimately has the ability to build an enormous collection of 3D avatars and content for Atmosphere worlds." Steve Cooper, co-founder and president of Curious Labs, said, "The Adobe and Curious Labs alliance is based on solid technology and a mutually beneficial, yet totally unique, set of features. As Adobe Atmosphere becomes the standard for Web-world creation, Curious Labs' Poser and Poser Pro Pack continue on as the most affordable 3D character creation tools."
