Bromstad New NBC Universal Int'l TV Production Chief

Angela Bromstad has been upped to president, International Television Production, NBC Universal International, based in London. Heading the newly created division as of Sept. 1, 2007, Bromstad will lead television production and strategic TV content partnerships across all territories and will be responsible for driving NBC Universal's international growth through increased local production, geographical expansion and new business creation.

Her appointment follows the recent announcement by NBC Universal International of its international expansion plans. Since March 2005, Bromstad had served as president of the Los Angeles-based NBC Universal Television Studios (now known as Universal Media Studios).

"Angela is a talented and respected TV executive and we are delighted that a professional of her vast experience will be leading our new International TV Production entity," said Peter Smith, president, NBC Universal International, to whom she will report. "She will play a key role in extending NBC Universal's global influence and accelerating our international growth."

"Angela has done an incredible job running our TV Studios operations for the last several years, as evidenced by the record number of Emmy nominations (60) our studios received," said Jeff Zucker, NBC Universal president/ceo. "It makes great sense to bring Angela's tremendous experience, good taste, and important relationships to this new international playing field. This is a huge priority for our company and I couldn't be more excited about our prospects with Angela and Pete leading the charge."

Bromstad will also expand NBC Universal's existing international Formats Licensing business, which has enjoyed recent success with localized versions of LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT and LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT in France and Russia.

Bromstad was responsible for the development of scripted comedy and drama series and current series production. Most recently, she oversaw such series as HEROES, THE OFFICE, HOUSE, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, 30 ROCK, the LAW & ORDER-branded series and numerous others. Cable successes have included BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, MONK, PSYCH and EUREKA. Among her current development slate are the upcoming series BIONIC WOMAN, LIFE and LIPSTICK JUNGLE for NBC.

Before this, Bromstad had been co-president, NBC Universal Television Studios, May 2004-March 2005. Her previous posts include evp, NBC Studios and svp of drama development for NBC Ent.
