Arena Animation Creates India’s First 3D Commercial

Aptech’s education brand, Arena Animation, has created “Dudolls,” the first television commercial produced in India that has undergone a 3D stereoscopic conversion, making it ready to be viewed on any 3D-supported device including 3D monitors and 3D cinema theater.

Aptech’s education brand, Arena Animation, has created “Dudolls,” the first television commercial produced in India that has undergone a 3D stereoscopic conversion, making it ready to be viewed on any 3D-supported device including 3D monitors and 3D cinema theater.

Produced for Arena by production house Talking Donkeys, “Dudolls” features playfully animated characters (named Dudolls) in an Arena centre that showcases the facilities provided to students at Arena Animation. The commercial has already been seen on many national TV channels in India, and the 3D version accompany 3D features shown in multiplexes. The ad is meant for any 3D device that includes television and mobile phones, and is also expected to run on the 3D televisions of the future.

The concept is to showcase Animation and Multimedia as a fun and rewarding career. The Dudolls characters are seen jumping out of the Arena logo to show energy and exuberance. The Dudolls are then seen having fun within the centre, thus showcasing the facilities available at an Arena centre. Showing 2D, 3D, VFX and Web portray the key segments in which Arena trains its students. The playful mood of the characters have created by Arena students mentored by Arena faculty

The concept has been collaboratively built by the marketing team at Arena and the creative agency Quadrum Solutions.

Speaking at the launch, Aptech CEO Ninad Karpe said, "We have moved a step further in the world of animation with our latest TVC in 3D. It will help us reiterate ourselves as leaders in the animation arena and expand in our category. ‘Dudolls’ just reiterates how animation is gaining prominence and has become a coveted career of the youth.”

Planning on this required a foresight to integrate the 3D vision early in storyboarding stage & not as an afterthought.
