The Weinstein Co. has sold most of the world on Exodus Film Groups CG-animated feature comedy IGOR, following Cannes.
Key territorial sales include the U.K. to Momentum, in France to TF1, in Germany and Switzerland to Constantine, in Spain to Aurum, in Russia to West Film Group, in Eastern Europe to EEAP, in Benelux to RCV, in Brazil to Europa, in the Middle East to Italia, in Portugal to Lusomundo, in South Korea to Jung-A Ent., in Turkey to Film Pop and in Taiwan to Applause.
Glen Basner, president of The Weinstein Co.'s International Distribution said, "It's fantastic to have sold almost every territory while the film is still in pre-production and were thrilled that such leading distributors are joining us in the animation business, which is an integral element of our ongoing business at TWC Intl."
Glen Basner and The Weinstein Co. have done an excellent job at Cannes with IGOR, said Exodus president John D. Eraklis. We couldn't be more pleased with the strong international interest in our film.
The comedy is a twist to the classic monster genre, telling the story of a mad scientists hunchbacked lab assistant who has big dreams of becoming a scientist in his own right and winning the coveted first place award at the annual Evil Science Fair.
Written by Chris McKenna (Foxs AMERICAN DAD), IGOR is produced by John D. Eraklis and seasoned animation exec Max Howard, who has collaborated on such animated blockbusters as THE LION KING, ALADDIN, SPACE JAM and THE IRON GIANT.
Other CG-animated projects for The Weinstein Co. include the fourth installment of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH, OPUS, CRICKET IN TIMES SQUARE and HOOD VS. EVIL, the sequel to the box office hit HOODWINKED.
Exodus Film Groups CG-animation slate also includes THE HERO OF COLOR CITY and AMARILLO ARMADILLO, with Howard set to exec produce. Exodus is in pre-production on the live-action film BUNYAN & BABE, featuring the voice of comedic actor Eddie Griffin (SCARY MOVIE 3) as the CG-animated Babe the Blue Ox. Eraklis is producing BUNYAN with exec producer Tarquin Gotch (HOME ALONE). Award-winning composer Basil Poledouris (THE JUNGLE BOOK, LONESOME DOVE) is composing the score.
