Romano Upped to SVP, Corp. Communications for Nick, MTVN Kids & Family Group

Marianne Romano has been promoted to SVP, corp. communications, for Nickelodeon, MTVN Kids and Family Group.

Romano will continue to be based at Nickelodeon's offices in Santa Monica and Burbank, California as she oversees all west coast-based TV production communications efforts for Nickelodeon, MTVN Kids and Family Group. Her responsibilities will also include overseeing the communications strategies for Nickelodeon's west coast-based digital businesses, including Neopets; west coast-based community and industry affairs initiatives; overseeing and executing press strategies for the Nick Movies feature film division; and overseeing west coast-based communications and corporate relations for senior execs. Romano will continue to report to Dan Martinsen, evp, corp. communications, for Nickelodeon, MTVN Kids and Family Group.

Since joining Nickelodeon in 1998 as director, communications, west coast, Romano has successfully led the network's publicity efforts for some of the most popular programming in kids television history, from RUGRATS, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, JIMMY NEUTRON and THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS, to live-action series hits ALL THAT!, THE AMANDA SHOW, ZOEY 101, DRAKE and JOSH AND ROMEO!, as well as Nickelodeon's major TV events, such as the annual KIDS' CHOICE AWARDS. She has also been Nickelodeon lead communications representative on corporate and industry issues in Los Angeles. She is a member of the Nickelodeon Networks Diversity Council, participates in the MTVN Mentor program and is on the board of directors of Padres Contra El Cancer, a Southern California-based non-profit organization that supports families of Latino children with cancer.

Romano broke into the industry at WNBC-TV in New York as a publicist. She moved to Los Angeles in 1990 and joined KNBC-TV as a media representative before joining NBC Ent. as manager, electronic publicity and talent relations. At NBC, Romano oversaw all aspects of broadcast publicity and talent relations for NBC Movies, specials and series, including FRASIER, 3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN, MAD ABOUT YOU and SISTERS. She was promoted to director, publicity for NBC Studios.
