Puffy AmiYumi to Ring in 2005 on Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network has positioned its new J-Pop inspired series, HI HI PUFFY AMIYUMI, center stage for a four-hour New Years Eve event for kids that features a brand new episode on Dec. 31, 2004. Real life singers Ami and Yumi will join FRIDAYS on-air hosts Tommy and Nzinga at 11:55 pm for the countdown to midnight that then launches into the mini-marathon with special CN series airing up to the countdown.

This year's bundle of festivities begins at 7:00 pm with episodes of CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOOR, ATOMIC BETTY, FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS and a premiere episode of HI HI PUFFY AMIYUMI. A four-hour marathon of HI HI PUFFY AMIYUMI will begin at 12:00 am. On Jan. 1, 2005, Cartoon Network will dedicate seven hours to airing the premiere episodes of its original series, starting at 12:00 pm.

The schedule for the marathon is as follows:12:00 am: "Aria Yumi" - Yumi tries to show her former opera teacher that she isn't a quitter, Yumi stars in the lead role in the instructor's own wacky production. "Puffy Pen Pal" - Ami is thrilled when she learns that her pen pal is coming to visit. When he arrives, he isn't exactly the dream she imagined him to be. "Save the Farm" - Ami, Yumi and Kaz band together to help an elderly farmer save his farm from an evil businessman who wants to turn it into a parking lot.

12:30 am: "In the Cards" - Ami and Yumi have the hots for the top player of Stu-Pi-Doh, a Japanese battle card game, and they both try to win his affections. The competition gets ridiculous, leading Ami and Yumi to duke it out in an ultimate game of Stu-Pi-Doh. "Team Teen" - When Ami and Yumi help a team of teen superheroes thwart their bad-guy nemesis, they're asked to join the squad. But Ami and Yumi quickly discover their new friends are actually pretty square. "Showdown!" - Out west, the bus gets caught in a dust storm and smashes into a building. It turns out that Ami and Yumi have inadvertently busted the infamous Burlap Boys out of jail.

1:00 am: "Ami Goes Bad" - When Ami buys the drumsticks that once belonged to her favorite, dearly departed, bad-boy drummer, CrazyStixx, strange things begin to happen. "A Clockwork Puffy" - Kaz introduces his latest invention: a pair of life-size Puffy dolls. The dolls are creepy and it's up to Ami and Yumi to stop them before they take over their Puffy world. "Metal Madness" - Puffy gets booked on tour with Metalbreath, an untalented heavy metal band. At their wits' end, Ami and Yumi get revenge by giving Metalbreath a boy-band makeover.

1:30 am: "Ami's Secret;" "Taffy Trouble;" "Dance-a-Go-Go"

2:00 am: "Talent Suckers" - Ami and Yumi meet a bunch of overzealous Goth groupies who turn out to be vampires. The vamps suck the rock out of the talented musicians in an attempt to start their own band. "Ole!" - When Ami and Yumi inadvertently beat a bull while attending a bullfight in Latin America, they're regarded as heroes and awarded the title of Master Matadors. "Mini-Puffs" - Kaz creates a new band called The Mini-Puffs, made up of toddlers who sing weird nursery rhyme versions of Puffy songs.

2:30 am: "Dis-Harmony" - Ami and Yumi meet Harmony, their No. 1 fan. At first, she appears to be adorably harmless, but they soon realize that she is obsessed. "Collect All 5" - Ami is obsessed with a group of five fluffy dolls called "Cuddle Buddies." She quickly accumulates the entire collection of Cuddles and will stop at nothing to collect all five. "Ninjcompoop" - Yumi sends away for a home-study ninja course and quickly becomes a master of the ninja arts, getting a little carried away.

3:00 am: "Allergic;" "Kaz Almighty;" "Tsunami AmiYumi"

3:30 am: "Aria Yumi;" "Puffy Pen Pal;" "Save the Farm"

CNs Day of Firsts, on Jan. 1, includes the premiere episodes of OZZY AND DRIX, THE POWERPUFF GIRLS, FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS, HI HI PUFFY AMIYUMI, EVIL CON CARNE, THE GRIMM ADVENTURES OF BILLY AND MANDY, ED, EDD N EDDY; CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOOR, ATOMIC BETTY, TOTALLY SPIES, TREEN TITANS and STATIC SHOCK.
