MTV Int’l Gains Comedy Central & Spike TV Library

MTV Networks International (MTVNI) announced at MIPCOM that it would handle the international distribution and licensing for Comedy Central and Spike TV properties. Both Comedy Central and Spike TV are wholly owned by MTV Networks. Comedy Central airs animated programs SOUTH PARK and KID NOTORIOUS and Spike TV airs THE REN & STIMPY ADULT PARTY CARTOON, GARY THE RAT and STRIPPERELLA.

Kathleen Hricik, evp, Intl Program Enterprises, MTV Networks Intl, said, Adding Comedy Centrals groundbreaking shows and cutting-edge originals to our international library of product is part of an overall strategic transition since the network became part of MTV Networks family in June 2003. Comedy Central is a perfect complement to our lineup, which includes MTV, VH1 and Nickelodeon, and further positions MTVNI as the ultimate source of TV entertainment covering a breadth of diverse genres to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients. GARY THE RAT, STRIPPERELLA and THE REN & STIMPY ADULT PARTY CARTOON bring new creativity, talent and the unique Spike TV sensibility to our existing genres and, like all of our shows, represent our ongoing commitment to offering the most ambitious, dynamic and innovative programming on television.

Hricik hosted one of the few big evening parties at MIPCOM for buyers, partners and press to introduce all to the many genres of programming she is promoting around the world.

MTV Networks International Program Enterprises is responsible for all international program syndication and licensing activities for MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central. MTV Networks International brands include MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, TMF (The Music Factory) and Game One.
