MIP-TV News: PorchLight Unreels Record Number Of Films, Specials For MIP-TV

PorchLight Entertainment will be offering eight new feature length live-action movies for MIP-TV along with four animated movies and a collection of classic childrens stories to its booth Ri34.03.

"This sets a record in terms of quality and number of movies and specials introduced by us at a major sales market," said PorchLight president Bruce Johnson.

Three of the films were executive produced by PorchLight. FATAL LESSONS: THE GOOD TEACHER, stars Patricia Kalember from SIGNS, Erika Eleniak from BAYWATCH and Ken Tremblett from TOURIST TRAP, in a suspense thriller involving a school teacher with a deadly past. LANDSLIDE stars Vincent Spano from TEXAS RANGERS and Alexandra Paul from BAYWATCH in a disaster film where the principals have to survive a sudden treacherous landslide. COMBUSTION stars Joe Lando from DR. QUINN MEDICINE WOMAN, Michael Gross from FAMILY TIES and Gabriel Carteris from BEVERLY HILLS 90210 in a disaster film where the hero has to find a way to save his town and its inhabitants from being blown up in a methane explosion.

The slate also includes animated specials under the banner of Children's Classic Tales, a series of six one-hour animated programs, each including two classic stories told from the viewpoint of two original characters, Zac and Annie, developed by PorchLight for its critically acclaimed PBS series, ADVENTURES IN THE BOOK OF VIRTUES. Among the titles in Children's Classic Tales are, THE PIED PIPER, THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE, JACK AND THE BEANSTALK, THE STORY OF ROBIN HOOD AND LITTLE JOHN, THE TOWN MOUSE AND THE COUNTRY MOUSE, THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF and A CHRISTMAS CAROL.

Also available are four new animated movies, THE CHRISTMAS DINOSAUR, LITTLE FURRY TALES, SCARY GODMOTHER and A WOBOTS CHRISTMAS.

PorchLight is offering additional feature length movies, BETRAYING REASON, (official selection at the Montreal World Film Festival) FAREWELL TO HARRY, (World Fest Houston) SMALL MIRACLES (starring Jonathan Pryce), SHADOWLANDS (starring Gary Busey) and MOON DANCE. All are recent acquisitions for the Los Angeles-based production/distribution company.
