‘Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction’ Series to Launch on Crunchyroll

Already adapted as a two-part feature film that released in Japan, the anime will premiere worldwide on the platform later this week.

Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction, an anime series adaptation of the manga based on a graphic novel by Asano Inio, is coming to Crunchyroll later this week. The manga was previously adapted as a two-part feature film, which was released in Japan. The upcoming 18-part series will include content from the film, as well as new footage not included in the theatrical releases.

The anime is set in a dystopian sci-fi world, and centers on third-year high school students Koyama Kadode and Nakagawa Oran, aka Ontan. When an alien ship appears over Tokyo, the friends grow up with existential questions about where the true threat comes from: above or below.

Kurokawa Tomoyuki (Psycho Pass) directs from a script by Yoshida Reiko (Violet Evergarden, Liz and the Blue Bird, A Silent Voice).

The series stars Ikuta Lilas, a singer-songwriter and vocalist of the popular music group Yoasobi, as Koyama Kadode. Lilas is joined by Ano, singer from one of the theme songs for Chainsaw Man, as Otan.

Also starring are Tanezaki Atsumi as Kurihara Kiho; Shimabukuro Miyuri as Demoto Ai; Oki Saeko as Hirama Rin; Waki Azumi as Takemoto Futaba; Shiraishi Ryoko as Tainuma Makoto; Irino Miyu as Oba Keita; Uchiyama Koki as Kohiruimaki Kenichi; Ban Taito as Watarase; Suwabe Junichi as Nakagawa Hiroshi; Tsuda Kenjiro as Koyama Nobuo; Takenaka Naoto as Chairman; Tarako as Debeko; and Sugita Tomokazu as Isobeyan.

Production +h produces, with Ito Nobutake serving as chief animation director and Inami Satoi acting as CG director.

Episodes of Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction will upload every Thursday evening starting May 23.
