Cinanima 2000 finished its week of screenings with the presentation of its awards on Saturday, November 11, 2000. This year's grand prize winner was Michel Dudok Wit's "Father And Daughter," which also won the journalists' prize. In two categories the international juries awarded ties. Paul Driessen's "The Boy Who Saw The Iceberg" and Florence Miailhe's "Au Premier Dimanche D'Aout" both took the prize for best film between 7 and 21 minutes; Mark Van Der Maarel's "The Pinboard" and Vários' "Daddy And I" took home the best first film award. Portugal's Abi Feijó won both the Cartoon Portugal prize and the prize for the best Portuguese script for his brand new film, "Clandestino." This year the jury decided not to award prizes in the Class D: Long Feature and Class F: Publicity And Institutional categories. A complete list of winners is available on the festival's Web site. The 2001 edition of Cinanima will be held November 5-11, 2001. Also, during its general assembly the last day of the festival, ASIFA Portugal nominated Cinanima festival director Antonio Gaio an ASIFA Portugal honorary member, to acknowledge his dedication to animation -- Gaio has served as director of the festival for 20 years.
