The venerable ASTERIX franchise is going 3-D. Variety reports that SND and M6 Group will produce the next installment, ASTERIX: THE LAND OF THE GODS, in stereoscopic 3-D. The new film will be available for sale at the American Film Market.

Mac Guff is in talks to animate the film. Alexandre Astier is writing the script based on the ASTERIX book, THE MANSIONS OF THE GODS, penned by Rene Goscinny and drawn by Albert Uderzo.

In the story, Caesar attempts to take over the Gaulish village of Asterix and Obelix by constructing a giant Roman colony next door.
