High school seniors interested in education to enter the animation or videogame development industries are invited to apply for scholarships from The Art institute of California - San Francisco (www.aicasf.aii.edu). The scholarships, ranging between $5,000 and $25,000, may be applied toward tuition in the schools bachelors degree programs in Media Arts & Animation, Game Art & Design, Visual & Game Programming.
Scholarship awards are based on the quality of projects submitted by high school seniors who demonstrate ability and commitment to studying at the school. To enter, students may obtain a Scholarship Competition Entry Form from the school by emailing aisfadm@aii.edu or calling 888-493-3261. The entry deadline is April 30, 2005.
Students must fulfill general admission guidelines and competition guidelines, including a 250-word essay, educational résumé, letters of recommendation and entry form. In addition, students will need to submit samples of artwork relating to each individual program, which may include drawings or illustrations, videogame concept development, computer artwork, scripting or programming samples for a PC game, or module development for a game. The Game Art & Design, Visual & Game Programming and Media Arts & Animation programs teach skills needed for entry-level positions within the game and animation industries, developed in consultation with industry professionals from leading game development and animation companies in California.
The school is now accepting applications for entry into its programs starting spring quarter (April 4), summer quarter (July 11), and fall quarter (Oct. 3).
