Adult Swim Sets ‘Royal Crackers’ Season 2 Premiere

Watch the trailer - the network’s most watched new series of 2023, greenlit for a second season prior to its Season 1 premiere, returns next month with more dysfunctional Hornsby family fighting over the legacy of their second-rate cracker company.

Fans will finally get to snack on a new package of Royal Crackers episodes, as Adult Swim has just announced that Season 2 of the adult animated comedy premieres February 29, streaming the next day on Max. The show was the network’s most-watched new series of 2023 and was greenlit for a second season prior to its Season 1 premiere.

Created by and starring Jason Ruiz, who also executive produces, the series tells the story of Royal Crackers, a Bakersfield, California family’s once-successful cracker company dynasty, which is in dire straits. When the family patriarch, tyrannical company founder Theodore Hornsby Sr., ends up in a “super coma,” the rest of the Hornsbys take their lack of talent and business acumen and try to make Royal Crackers the success it once was.

“This show is near and dear to me and our team is second to none,” said Ruiz. “I’m incredibly grateful to Adult Swim for supporting Season 2 - which explores the deeper, lighter, and darker sides of The Hornsbys.”

The half-hour series, greenlit back in May 2021, also stars Andrew Santino (Dave, Bad Friends podcast), Jessica St. Clair (VeepAmerican HousewifeThe Deep Dive podcast), David Gborie (Exploding KittensAll Fantasy Everything podcast), and Maile Flanagan (Naruto, Not Dead Yet). Seth Cohen (The Last Man on Earth, Hoops) and Evan Mann (Arrested Development) also executive produce. The series is produced by Titmouse.

Season 2 delves deeper into brothers Stebe (Ruiz) and Theo’s (Santino) daddy issues as they’re forced to confront their father’s dark past. Theo continues to grapple with the aftermath of his fall from stardom and attempts to navigate his way towards self-acceptance. Meanwhile, Deb (St. Clair) and Stebe’s highly sexually charged relationship undergoes significant challenges, putting their bond to the test. Matt (Flanagan) struggles to fit in at school and with his family. All the while the Royal Crackers Company tries to not only maintain relevance but also become the most popular snack food in the whole frickin’ world.
