Kayla

My name is Kayla Gleeson. I'm currently attending SUNY New Paltz in order to achieve my double bachelors degrees in Creative Writing and Digital Media Production. From early on in my life, animated media had a tremendous impact on me - I could never thank those who contribute to this art enough for creating so much life and personality within moving frames. It's astonishing that fictional characters and tales can evoke such real and wild emotions within us all, and that these characters often reflect ourselves. I'm a firm believer that the love for an art evokes a spirit within it, and that spirit evokes life which makes it all the more meaningful and real. The passion I feel for animation and writing has driven me toward an unfaltering desire to give back some of what this art has done for me; by pursuing a career in animation. I've written several scripts formatted for the screen, and one stage play which I plan to also format for animation. I'm experienced in audio, video, and script-editing software. I have very limited drawing skills, as I am more invested in the writing and editing aspects of animation, but have a strong wish to learn. If needed, I will get educated on the craft of the art itself, if it means I will get to work anywhere within the realm of animated media. It is critical that we, as a world, understand the power that animation holds when projected to children. This art has the ability to shape minds, and help our future generations to grow with lessons of love and unity. So under-appreciated and underestimated is the strength of cartoons - as are the minds and intelligence of children. While a dream of mine involves being a script supervisor, writer, or audio/video editor for animation, I would be over the moon to have any career involved in the field whatsoever - anything I can do to help keep this animated world spinning, I will.
