Terminator's Salvation from Lawsuits

Variety reports two TERMINATOR SALVATION producers have sued the Pacificor hedge fund (and one of its former employees) alleging financial wrongdoing.

The Halcyon Co., owner of the rights to the movie franchise, has accused former Pacificor employee Kurt Benjamin of fraud, double-dealing and conspiring with the fund's CEO, Andy Mitchell.

Set to launch in October; Marvel, Archie and Image Comics are already onboard. Comics can/will be read frame by frame on the PSP’s screen. The company did not unveil any pricing information on the service as yet.

Further Films Adapts Jackson’s Castle

Michael Douglas' Further Films is developing Shirley Jackson’s 1962 novel, WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN THE CASTLE.

CASTLE tells the tale of a reclusive, potentially murderous family and was adapted for Broadway in the 1960s.

The HollywoodReporter notes Further will produce with Literal Media, the firm that reps Jackson's work. Laurence Hyman, Jackson's son and literary executor, also will have a role as producer.

Outland Remake is In at WB

The HollywoodReporter notes Warner Bros. is re-imaging the 1981 space Western that starred Sean Connery.

The new incarnation will be written by Chad St. John and directed by Michael Davis. Hollywood Gang's Gianni Nunnari is producing, with the company's Craig Flores onboard as Exec. Producer.

The original, dubbed ‘High Space Noon’ (written and directed by Peter Hyams), involved a Jupiter moon marshall investigating a string of mysterious deaths.

Fox Follows the Magician’s Elephant

Fox is moving forward with a big screen adaptation of Kate DiCamillo’s book, THE MAGICIAN’S ELEPHANT.

Variety reports Martin Hynes (THE GO-GETTER) will be directing the project in a similar tone to THE PRINCESS BRIDE. Julia Pistor is producing.

The book, soon to be published, involves an orphan boy who is told by a fortune teller that an elephant will lead to his missing sister.

Josh Lucas, Terrence Howard and Lake Bell are onboard for the ghostly thriller LITTLE MURDER reports Variety.

Peter Antonijevic (SAVIOR) is directing LITTLE MURDER with Silvio Muraglia producing for Mind in Motion Entertainment.

Written by Gerald Di Pego (THE FORGOTTEN, PHENOMENON), the film is set in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. A disgraced detective gets a chance at redemption when the ghost of a beautiful cellist takes form to find her killer.

DC Comics’ (Vertigo Imprint) MIDNIGHT, MASS. involves a sexy, wordly husband & wife detective team who solve supernatural mysteries and more.

District 9 Invades Top Spot at Box Office

In its debut week, DISTRICT 9 (TriStar, with vfx by Image Engine Design) grabbed the #1 spot at the box office, taking in $37M.

Holding strong at #2, G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA (Paramount, with vfx by CIS Hollywood, Digital Domain, HPI and Lidar Services) earned $22.5M – down 58%. G.I. JOE has earned $98.7M in its two week haul.

Premiering in the #3 spot, THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE (WB/NL, with vfx by Rhythm and Hues) made $19.2M.
