Spawn Gets The Devil of a Voice Cast

IDT Ent. and Todd McFarlane Prods. have announced the voices for the characters featured in the return of TODD MCFARLANES SPAWN: ANIMATION TV series, including Keith David returning as Spawn.

The ensemble cast includes:* Keith David (PITCH BLACK, THERES SOMETHING ABOUT MARY) as the voice of Spawn, the tortured soul on an eternal battle with evil, caught between heaven and hell.* Carl Weathers (ROCKY, PREDATOR) lends his voice talent as Captain Edwards, a long time police captain who tries going by the book despite rampant crime.

IFC Premieres 3 New Animated Series on Film Fanatic Fridays

In what the IFC (Independent Film Channel) calls a deranged hour of programming, the channel launched three new animates series on Aug. 19, 2005 at 10:00 pm, in its Film Fanatic Fridays block. The series include HOPELESS PICTURES, GREG THE BUNNY and THE FESTIVAL. The block repeats at 1:00 am and on Tuesdays at 10:00 pm and 1:00 am.

On Aug. 12 IFC previewed the three original series on the network's Web site as a free service, streamed without download. Every episode will be available online on a weekly basis.

Brazilian Shorts Series Premieres on Cartoon Network Latin America

PIXCODELICS, a new series of shorts premiered on Cartoon Network Latin America Aug. 13, 2005, at 12:00 pm. PIXCODELICS, consisting of 65 five-minute interstitials, was produced with MoP Brasil Digital, a 3D animation studio in San Paulo (www.mopdigital.com.br) and features a group of kids fighting to keep the Internet out of the clutches of a web tycoon.

Nicktoons Premieres Its 2nd Annual Film Festival Nextoons

Nicktoons will present NEXTOONS: THE NICKTOONS FILM FESTIVAL, a week-long festival of shorts submitted by animators worldwide. The festival will kick off on Sunday, Aug. 21, at midnight (ET)/9:00 pm (PT) and will air nightly at midnight (ET)/9:00 pm (PT), leading up to the final episode on Sunday, Aug. 28. Created in partnership with Frederator Studios, NEXTOONS: THE NICKTOONS FILM FESTIVAL is the first on-air festival of its kind, and the only, on-air festival dedicated to showcasing the diversity of independent cartoon filmmaking by animators from around the globe.

Look Effects Finishes First Season of Malcolm

Look Effects, which recently worked on THE LIFE AQUATIC, THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, THE O.C. and CSI: NEW YORK, has just finished its first season of producing vfx for the long running Fox series MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE.

Look Effects partner Henrik Fett, an industry vet who has worked on projects such as JOAN OF ARCADIA and THE LIFE AQUATIC, served as the series visual effects supervisor and will oversee both the on-set effects shoots at the Fox studios as well as the animation and compositing teams at Looks Hollywood facilities.

Cartoon Network UK Buys Berliner Film’s Da Boom Crew

Cartoon Network UK has bought the first season of DA BOOM CREW, a European production from the Berliner Film Companie, slated for its U.K. premiere on Sept. 5, 2005, at 5:00 pm.

Now airing on Kids WB! In the U.S., the sci-fi comedy/adventure follows four young friends who create their own action-packed intergalactic videogame, but when a freak power surge opens up an electrical vortex, they get sucked into a parallel world exactly like their game.

Naruto to Debut Sept. 10 on Cartoon Network

Anime series NARUTO will make its worldwide English-version debut on Sept. 10, 2005, at 9 pm during Cartoon Networks primetime action block, Toonami.

The recently produced series (2202) from Japan centers around Uzumaki Naruto, a rebellious ninja in training, first featured as a popular manga series created by Masahi Kishimoto. The series has already acquired a huge fan base in the U.S. through DVD sales and bootleg tapes. Cartoon Network has acquired 52 episodes of the anime series.

CCI, Collingwood O’Hare Ent. & Silver Fox Partner on Bucket Full of Animati

Two U.K. animation companies are partnering for the first time to produce HARRY AND HIS BUCKET FULL OF DINOSAURS, a 52-episode preschool animation series based on the best-selling books by Ian Whybrow and Adrian Reynolds.

Collingwood OHare Entertainment and Silver Fox Films are joining forces for the production, along with Canadian production and distribution company CCI Entertainment. Directors are Collingwood OHares Tony Collingwood and Silver Foxs Graham Ralph.

Ben 10 Superheroe Series Set for 2006 Debut on Cartoon Network

BEN 10 is a new sci-fi action/adventure series set to debut on Cartoon Network in May 2006, featuring Ben Tennyson, a seemingly normal 10-year-old boy who, with a flick of his wrist, can transform into any one of 10 alien beings with amazing superpowers, like the powerful Four Arms or the slime-spitting Stinkfly. Sundance Channel Acquires BBC’s I Am Not An Animal Animated Series

Sundance Channel has acquired U.S. television rights to the BBC animated series, I AM NOT AN ANIMAL, a satirical, animated comedy that follows the adventures of a group of talking animals suddenly forced to fend for themselves in the outside world. The series will premiere on Oct. 5, 2005, at 11:00 pm and air Wednesday nights at 11:00 pm through November 9.
