Spider Riders To Make U.S. Broadcast Debut On KIDS’ WB!

Coliseum, the action-adventure brand of Cookie Jar Ent. Inc., will make its U.S. debut of the series, SPIDER RIDERS, on KIDS WB! on Saturday, June 17, 2006, at 10:30 am (ET/PT). SPIDER RIDERS is a co-production between Cookie Jar and leading Japanese advertising agency, Yomiko, together with celebrated Japanese animation studio, Bee Train, known for its popular cult series, HACK//SIGN. SPIDER RIDERS is Coliseums largest production since the companys inception in 2004.

Pee-wee’s Playhouse Makes TV Return on Adult Swim

PEE-WEES PLAYHOUSE, the winner of 22 Emmy Awards, returns to TV, joining the Adult Swim lineup beginning Monday, July 10. The acclaimed series, which has been largely absent from the airwaves for nearly 15 years, stars Paul Reubens as his alter-ego Pee-wee Herman, and features a rich cast of characters who drop by the place where anything can happen.

American Dad Gets 22 More Episodes

Fox has greenlit 22 additional episodes of AMERICAN DAD, extending the shows run through the 2007-08 TV season, reports the trades. In the fall, the series will move to the coveted timeslot following THE SIMPSONS.

"It's definitely a good show of faith," said exec producer Mike Barker. "From a writing standpoint, we feel there's certainly a lot of things left to explore in our characters. We never realized there'd be so many layers to a right-wing, conservative father.

Musical Guests Grace Cartoon Network Fridays Set for Summer ’06

The set of Cartoon Network Fridays will heat up this summer with performances by some of todays most popular musical guests. R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo will kick off the Memorial Day weekend with a performance of his hit single So Sick, on Friday, May 26, at 8:00 pm (ET, PT). Also slated to appear this summer are Cheyenne Kimball, Sammie, Bowling for Soup and Da Backwudz. Musical guests perform on the set of Fridays in front of a live studio audience. Past musical guests include Nick Cannon, Chris Brown and Rihanna.

The production/distribution company Neptuno Films has sealed new pan regional sales of its animation production portfolio in Latin America.

Cartoon Network Latin America has acquired seasons 1 and 2 of KING ARTHURS DISASTERS. A co-production of Neptuno Films with Zenith Ent., KING ARTHURS DISASTERS has been airing on ITV in the U.K. Other partners include Nick UK, Cartoon Network France, ABC Australia, Disney Italy, among others.

Judges Set for 3rd Annual Nicktoons Network Animation Festival

The third annual Nicktoons Network Animation Festival has selected six judges for this years festivities. Comedic brothers Shawn and Marlon Wayans, creators of a brand new an animated special for Nickelodeon and Nicktoons Network, will serve on a panel of artists that also includes FAMILY GUY creator Seth MacFarlane, Disneys Andreas Deja, famed independent animator Bill Plympton and last year's Producers Choice and Student Award Winner JG Quintel.

Nickelodeon's THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS pays homage to the AMERICAN IDOL craze with its very own Idol-like singing competition in FAIRY IDOL, a one-hour special premiering May 19, 2006, at 8:00 pm. SCI FI Movies Slated in 2007; A.I. Assault is Latest Flick

SCI FI's Saturday night original movie franchise, promises more action, thrills, creatures, cataclysmic disasters and mythologically-based subject matter in 2007 with 28 new film projects slated for premiere, it was announced by Thomas P. Vitale, svp of programming & original movies, SCI FI.

But there many more to come in 2006, such as A.I. ASSAULT, the latest installment in the current season of SC IFI Movies. The Cinetel Films Inc. production premiered May 6, 2006, and encores on May 11 at 9:00 pm on the SCI FI Channel.

CG-Animated Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Premieres May 5

MICKEY MOUSE CLUBHOUSE, the first Mickey Mouse series created specifically for preschoolers, premieres in the U.S. during a special primetime presentation May 5 at 7:30 pm on Disney Channel and, in its regular timeslot, May 6 9:00 am during the learning-focused Playhouse Disney programming block. Jetix Adopts Robot Dog Series from Doctor Who Team

Jetix Europe has teamed with Park Ent. and the DOCTOR WHO creative team of Bob Baker and Paul Tams to develop K-9 ADVENTURES, a 26 x30 comedy/fantasy series featuring Doctor Whos famous robot dog. The show will employ state of the art CGI animation mixed with live-action, to give K-9 a sleek new look for the series that is set in space.

Popetown Toon Airs in Germany Despite Protests

MTV Germany was able to air the controversial BBC cartoon series, POPETOWN, in Germany, despite the protests of the German Catholic Church, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

In a last minute move Wednesday, May 3, 2006, the bishops from Pope Benedict XVI's home state of Bavaria filed an injunction against MTV Germany to stop the network from airing a single episode of the animated series, which features the good-hearted Father Nicholas and his trials with his boss a squat, obnoxious, gun-toting Pope.

Cartman to See Doug Whisperer in South Park Mid-Season Finale May 3

The first half of the 10th season of SOUTH PARK culminates with Cartman's mom realizing she has lost control of her son in an all-new episode titled, "TSST!" premiering Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at 10 p.m. on Comedy Central.

The Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan, takes on his biggest challenge to date when he signs on to discipline Eric Cartman. Cesar may have encountered his biggest challenge, because Cartman isn't going down without a fight.

Spider Riders Premiere Tops TELETOON May Highlights

Topping the highlights in its May lineup, TELETOON will premiere the first anime series to come out of Canada SPIDER RIDERS. The series will launch Sunday, May 7, 2006, at 10:00 am with a 90-minute special, SPIDER RIDERS: THE INNER WORLD.

SPIDER RIDERS is an action-adventure series for kids 6-12, based on the book SHARDS OF THE ORACLE by Tedd Anasti and Patsy Cameron-Anasti, published in December 2004. Toronto's Cookie Jar Ent. and Japan's Yomiko co-produce the series. Japanese animation company BeeTrain, a division of IG Prod., is doing the animation.

John Lithgow to Star in Paloozaville Animated & Live-Action Series

23D Films, an animation design studio, and Weller/Grossman Prods., an award-winning television production company, will jointly produce live-action/animated PALOOZAVILLE, a 20-part signature series staring its creator, John Lithgow. The program will broadcast on Mag Racks Kids Club video on-demand presentations.

A palooza is an invitation to a creative adventure, an activity that keeps kids from uttering those terrifying words, Im bored! according to creator John Lithgow.

Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) and Korean satellite TV broadcaster SkyLife will launch their joint venture channel Animax in Korea on April 29, 2006. Animax in Korea is a 24-hour local program provider carrying animation programming carried exclusively on SkyLifes DTH platform, which has a subscriber base of about 1.9 million in Korea.

SCI FI Channel Unveils Development Slate & Greenlits Motel Man

SCI FI Channel's Mark Stern, evp, original programming, announced today (April 26, 2006) an aggressive slate of original scripted dramas, miniseries, alternative reality and late night series for the network. The channel has also greenlit production on MOTEL MAN (working title), a limited series event that will premiere on SCI FI this December.

Pre-production on MOTEL MAN is underway with Lionsgate producing. Co-exec producers Christopher Leone, Laura Harkcom and Paul Workman are writing and developing MOTEL MAN.
