BKN Expands Studio, Brings New HD Properties To MIP

BKN will be taking its two brand new and complete pilots named STONE AGE (52 x 11) and POCKET PENGUIN ADVENTURES (52 x 11) to MIP TV.

Smallville Creators Leaving Show, Longtime Writers Take Over

In an open letter to the media, SMALLVILLE creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have announced they are leaving the show they started at the end of the current season.

TV GUIDE is reporting that a pair of producing teams -- Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, and Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer will take over as showrunners and executive producers. The four are longtime writers on SMALLVILLE.

Jetix Europe And Canalsat Agree To Carriage Deal

Jetix Europe today announced that a multi-year agreement has been reached with French platform, CANALSAT, to continue carrying its channel in France.

This new agreement signals a joint objective of strengthening their relationship in order to offer Jetix both a prominent audience and position in France.

Paul Taylor, Chief Executive Officer for Jetix Europe, said: "We look forward to continuing to offer its' younger subscribers some of their favourite Jetix programmes in the future."

CSI: NY Virtual World Killer Wrapped Up By Electric Sheep

CBS drama CSI: NY and the Electric Sheep Company partnered to wrap up the Virtual World killer plot line in recent episode "DOA for a Day."

The first part of the episode titled, "Down The Rabbit Hole" originally aired, Wednesday, October 24.

In "DOA for a Day" the CSI's, working with an anonymous tip, travel to an abandoned warehouse and back into the virtual 3D computer world where they hope to find one of the city's most-wanted criminals.

Nickelodeon Sweeps Kid Demos In First Quarter 2008

Driven by the success of hit series in live action and animation, including its huge multiplatform hit ICARLY and a record-breaking 2008 Kids' Choice Awards, Nickelodeon secured a clean sweep among all kid demos during the first quarter of 2008 (1Q08).

They finishing first among kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tweens (9-14), according to Nielsen Media Research (12/31/07-3/30/08). During the quarter, Nickelodeon accounted for the top five rated kids' programs and scored solid delivery gains year-over-year with all of its core demographics of kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14.

Production Begins On New Playhouse Disney Series

Animal-Themed Episodes Coming Up For Little Einsteins

Disney Channel's hit music and art-filled preschool series LITTLE EINSTEINS will present a week of animal-themed episodes beginning Monday, April 28 (8:00am ET/PT), concluding with the premiere of an all new episode, "Animal Snack Time" on Friday, May 2 (8:00 A.M. ET/PT).

In "Animal Snack Time," Rocket travels to Africa to play with all of the baby animals. When Big Jet swoops into the Savannah and steals all the snacks that Rocket brought, Rocket uses his special animal morphing powers to overcome Big Jet's tricks.

TeamTO has started production for the 26 x 13 minutes, fun-packed, 3D animated series INTERNATIONAL HAREPORT.

A development agreement was signed with TF1 for this project after its presentation at the Cartoon Forum in 2006.

The series has received from the support of the Procirep and of the Centre National de laCinematographie in France. The project also benefits from several pre-sales in Europe, including in Norway, Sweden and Belgium.

CBS' JERICHO, saved once last year, has been canceled, according to TV GUIDE.COM.

Jetix EnvirOlympics Is Pure Green Fun

In celebration of Earth Day, Jetix, the action, adventure and comedy block on Toon Disney, will debut "EnvirOlympics" PSA messages that challenge kids to become eco-heroes and provide them a chance to win a trip to the X Games.

Sci Fi Greenlights Battlestar Prequel

CAPRICA, the prequel to BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, has been given the go-ahead for a two-hour backdoor pilot by the Sci Fi Channel, VARIETY reports.

The other highlight of Sci Fi's upfront presentation in New York was the signing of Rosario Dawson to develop a pilot for TRUE BELIEVER, based on a comic book she co-created.

Tuesday's upfronts in New York City's Morgan Library were delivered by network president David Howe, and also included announcements that stunt-reality series SCARE TACTICS will return with new host Tracy Morgan.
