Nickelodeon Asia to Start ChinaToon Block

Nickelodeon Asia, in an effort to boost China's animation business, will launch ChinaToon next month, per VARIETY, a one-hour branded block dedicated to local cartoons.

Two acclaimed series will kick off the block on July 5: Creative Power Entertaining's PLEASANT GOAT AND BIG BIG WOLF and Zhejiang Zhongnan Group Animation Video's MAGIC WONDERLAND. ChinaToon will be broadcast in 13 territories across Asia.

Noah Wyle Brought on to Spielberg Alien Pilot

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY's Michael Ausiello reports that Noah Wyle has been hired to headline Steven Spielberg's untitled alien-invasion pilot for TNT.

The series was announced last month at TNT's upfront presentations. The story takes place six months after evil aliens decimate mankind, while Wyle would play the leader of a group of citizens trying to take down the extra terrestrials.
