Kahani World & Accel Animation Team Up For Animated Feature Films & DVDs

Kahani World Inc. in Canada and Accel Animation Studios in India have packed to produce three motion pictures and 11 direct-to-DVDs, which the parties hope to spin off into further opportunities in TV, mobile, new media & web formats. One of the largest motion picture deals in Indian animation, the parties toasted the deal at MIFA last month during Annecy, to mark the first international market where Indian animation companies had come together to present India's capabilities and accomplishments on the world stage.

Iranian Animation Goes for Guinness Book of World Records

Director Hamid Sohrabi and a team of 23 animators at Tehran's Saba Art and Cultural Institute set out to break into the Guinness Book of World Records by animating an entire three and a half minute film in 16 hours and 45 minutes, reports IranMania.com. Titled INSTALLING HAJAR-UL-ASWAD AT THE HOUSE OF GOD, the film tells a story around Hajar-ul-Aswad, the black stone on Mecca's wall of Kaaba that pilgrims kiss.

Flintstones Composer Will Schaefer Passes Away

Will Schaefer, the composer on many Hanna-Barbara series, such as THE FLINTSTONES, THE YOGI BEAR SHOW and SCOOBY-DOO, WHERE ARE YOU!, passed away from cancer on Saturday, June 30, 2007, in Palm Desert, California. He was 78 years old.

Schaefer also composed music for Walt Disney Studios, working on TV shows like THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY and the 1970 feature, THE ARISTOCATS, which he teamed with George Bruns.

Heffalump Writer Penning Sonnenfeld's Box

Barry Sonnenfeld (MEN IN BLACK) is in talks to helm the supernatural action flick, THE BOX, for 20th Century Fox, reports VARIETY. Southpaw Ent.'s Richard Lewis is the producer while Evan Spiliotopoulos (POOH'S HEFFALUMP MOVIE) is the screenwriter.

This contemporary version of the Pandora's box myth follows a college grad, who unknowingly unleashes evils on the world and must team up with Pandora to save Earth.

The fast tracked film is being shepherded by Emma Watts at the studio.

Taffy Pulls Into MIPTV With New Fantastic Four & Bobby's World Deals

Taffy Ent. will pull into MIPTV with new deals for animated series FANTASTIC FOUR and BOBBY'S WORLD.

Taffy Ent. has signed a U.K. deal for FANTASTIC FOUR, the animated series based on Marvel's superhero franchise. GMTV has acquired the program for its weekend children's strand, Toonattik, which airs on ITV1 and CITV.

In separate deals, the series has also been snapped up by TV Globo in Brazil, MRTL in Hungary and Fox Video for Europe and Latin America.
