Star Wars: The Clone Wars Trailers Debuts Today

On Thursday, May 8th, five Turner networks will broadcast the world-premiere trailer for STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS. At 7:58 p.m. in all U.S. time zones, Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, CNN, and Boomerang will debut two-minute preview of the animated adventure from creator George Lucas and Lucasfilm Animation. It marks the first time a theatrical trailer has received a simultaneous, cross-network airing on Turner Networks. The trailer debuts in theaters on Friday, May 9th.

The Force Is With Spike TV

Spike TV's telecast of the ad-supported cable television premiere of STAR WARS: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH on Sunday, April 6, was the highest rated movie in network history and the highest-rated movie of the year on ad-supported cable in the key demographics of Men 18-49 and Persons 18-49.

The final installment in the epic adventure saga from director and creator George Lucas drew 4.2 million viewers with a 3.0 household rating (2,859,000 homes), 2.7 in Men 18-49 (1,493,000), 2.4 in Men 18-34 (671,000), and a 2.1 in Persons 18-49 (2,388,000).

The Force Will Be Unleashed On September 16

LucasArts today announced that its highly anticipated video game STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED will be released on September 16, 2008 in the United States, September 17 in Southeast Asia and Australia, and September 19 in Europe.

An entirely new chapter in the STAR WARS saga, STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy.

LucasArts Appoints New President

Darrell Rodriguez has been named president of LucasArts, the videogame division of Lucasfilm Ltd., it was announced today by Lucasfilm President Micheline Chau.

He replaces Jim Ward, who stepped down in February.

"Darrell is the ideal person to run LucasArts," Chau said. "Having worked at both Electronic Arts and Disney Imagineering he brings the perfect blend of production, operational, and creative expertise. For a games company such as LucasArts with its roots in film, this is an electric combination."

Complete Star Wars Saga Coming To Spike TV

The Force is with Spike TV this April as the complete STAR WARS saga comes to basic cable.

Airing Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6, and Friday, April 11 through Sunday, April 13, the two-weekend event includes the broadcast premiere of STAR WARS: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH and the basic cable premieres of STAR WARS: EPISODE I THE PHANTOM MENACE and STAR WARS: EPISODE II ATTACK OF THE CLONES.

Fourteen New Titles For LeapFrog

Learning products developer LeapFrog Enterprises announced Sunday they will add 14 new licensed, Web-connected software titles to their handheld gaming systems this year.

New titles feature popular characters and stories from Cartoon Network, Lucasfilm, Nickelodeon and Warner Bros. for the new Leapster2 Learning Game System and the Didj Custom Gaming System.

All new games will connect to the proprietary LeapFrog Learning Path to extend the learning online.

Animated Clone Wars Coming To Theaters

Lucasfilm Ltd., Warner Bros. Pictures and Turner Broadcasting System Inc. have announced that STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS will not start as the TV series, but as a feature film this August. The feature release will precede the TV series, which will air on Cartoon Network and TNT this fall. Produced by Lucasfilm Animation, STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS will open in North American theaters Friday, Aug. 15. International release dates will be announced soon.

The American Cinematheque's Egyptian Theatre is hosting the L.A. premiere of DRAGON WARS. Starring Jason Behr (THE GRUDGE), Amanda Brooks (FLIGHTPLAN) and Robert Forster (JACKIE BROWN), and written & directed by Hyung Rae Shim, DRAGON WARS is rumored to be the most expensive Korean film ever made, a super big-budget giant monster fest with state-of-the art special effects. Dragon-like creatures from an ancient legend appear in Los Angeles, scale buildings, flip cars and terrorize the city in search of a girl named Sarah.

Hollywood Roadshow, a partnership between Premiere Props and Super Auctions, will be auctioning off more than 750 one-of-a-kind movie props, rare animation cels from Disney, hand painted canvas artwork from STAR WARS, animation cels from THE SIMPSONS, vintage arcade games and new movie themed pinball machines. The live auction will take place at Premiere Props' warehouse, 128 Sierra Street, El Segundo, California 90245. There will be a preview from 8:00 - 11:00 am, and the auction will begin at 11:00 am.

Post Service Gives Star Wars Stamp of Approval

Fifteen new commemorative postage stamps celebrating the 30th anniversary of STAR WARS will be available starting today May 25, 2007, at post offices across the U.S. additionally, the results of a national online ballot to decide America's favorite STAR WARS stamp design will be announced. Americans can vote through midnight tonight on uspsjedimaster.com to determine which STAR WARS character will be featured on a single stamp to be issued later this summer.

Lucasfilm to Help Fans Make Star Wars Films, Offers New LEGO Game

In further celebration of the 30th anniversary of STAR WARS, Lucasfilm will launch a revamped StarWars.com, which will allow fans to use footage from the films to make mash-up films, and announced the upcoming videogame, LEGO STAR WARS: THE COMPLETE SAGA.

Among the new features of the newly redesigned StarWars.com is the incorporation of an online video-editing tool provided by Eyespot. It allows users to add their own video shots to more than 250 scenes and music taken from all six STAR WARS films and create their own STAR WARS movies to share with others.

AtomFilms & Lucasfilm Announce Star Wars Fan Movie Finalists

Lucasfilm and AtomFilms announced the 19 official selections in the annual "Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge," their long-running celebration of the best videos created by STAR WARS fans, for STAR WARS fans. Robot Chicken Taps Lucas for Star Wars Spoof

Cartoon Network has confirmed that ROBOT CHICKEN creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich are wrapping up a half-hour special ROBOT CHICKEN: STAR WARS for Adult Swim. Green is directing the spoof of the STAR WARS universe, which was done in conjunction with Lucasfilm. George Lucas will lend his voice to an action figure likeness for the project.

"The special is a funny and ironic take on the Star Wars universe," says Green. "We're thrilled to be able to collaborate with Lucasfilm Ltd. and to have fun with the very property that shaped our sensibilities."

Star Wars Celebrates 30th at the Academy

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences began the fourth installment of its "Great to be Nominated" series on April 23, 2007, with the 30th anniversary screening of STAR WARS. The "Great To Be Nominated" series features the picture from each Academy Awards year that received the most nominations without winning the Best Picture award. Following the screening on the STAR WARS special edition, a post-film discussion was held, which included George Lucas, Robert Blalack, Richard Chew, John Dykstra, Richard Edlund, Paul Hirsch, Don MacDougall, Ray West, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill.
