Los Angeles, CA -- June 5, 2009 -- The best movie previews of 2009 were crowned last night at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles, when the 10th Annual Golden Trailer Awards were conferred before a live audience. In a show hosted by comedian, writer and actor Dean Edwards ("Saturday Night Live," dailycomedy.com), with presenters culled from the ranks of today's top and up-and-coming comedians, statuettes for 16 award categories were handed out. Additionally, one of these winners was also named Best in Show.

Sherlock Holmes Trailer Hits Net

Warner Bros. has released the first teaser for Guy Ritchie's take on SHERLOCK HOLMES. The film stars Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson. Rachel McAdams is the film's love interest with Mark Strong taking the villain role. WB as set Dec. 25th as the release date.

Princess and the Frog Trailer Arrives

Disney has released a new teaser trailer for THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG. In the trailer, fans get a taste of the plot, which is a take on the classic fairy tale. The lead Tiana is voiced by DREAMGIRLS star Anika Noni Rose and her amphibian love interest, Prince Naveen, is voiced by Bruno Campos (TV's NIP/TUCK).

Trailer for Cordell Barker's Runaway Hits Web

Two-time nominee Cordell Barker (THE CAT RETURNS and STRANGE INVADERS) is working on a new animated short for the NFB, which has posted a trailer for the film. The Film Board's description is as follows: "Happy passengers are having a great time on a crowded train, oblivious to the unknown fate that awaits them around the bend. The ensuing crisis leads to a class struggle that is as amusing as it is merciless. Naturally there are victims, but in the end everyone is equal." Check it out.

Sony Releases Cloudy with Meatballs Trailer

(Via SlashFilm.com) Sony Pictures Animation has released the movie trailer for CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS. Inspired by the beloved children’s book, the film tells the story of a scientist named Flint Lockwood, who while trying to solve world hunger who encounters a problem of global proportions, as food begins to fall from the sky like rain.

Trailer for 9 Released

Producers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov and director Shane Acker's upcoming animated feature 9 has a newly-released trailer. Based on the 2005 Oscar-nominated animated short, the feature has the voice talents of Jennifer Connelly, John C. Reilly and Elijah Wood and is due September 9, 2009 (9/9/09) from Focus Features.

In it, a rag doll must face a monster that is hunting his brethren and stealing their souls. Acker wrote the story, with a screenplay by Pamela Pettler.

Golden Trailer Nominees Announced, Sinbad To Host

Moving one step further to crowning the favorite movie trailers of the year, the nominees for the Ninth Annual Golden Trailer Awards are in, selected for the first time ever by a public jury.

Actor and comedian Sinbad will host the live award ceremony on May 8, 2008 at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. This double announcement was made today by Golden Trailer event co-founders and producers Evelyn Brady-Watters and Monica Brady.

Seven Networks To Air Hulk Trailer Simultaneously

The first teaser trailer for anticipated summer superhero epic THE INCREDIBLE HULK will have its exclusive broadcast debut in a simultaneous "roadblock" on seven networks on March 12.

This first opportunity to see material from the motion picture will be aired at approximately 9:56 p.m. EDT/6:56 p.m. PDT on MTV, MTVU, MTV2, VH1, Spike TV, Nick at Nite and CMT.

Following the on-air premiere, the trailer will be immediately posted on www.mtv.com for an exclusive period.

THX Partners with Fox on New Horton Hears a Who! Trailer

THX Ltd. is gearing up for the debut of a new movie trailer for HORTON HEARS A WHO! from Twentieth Century Fox Animation's Blue Sky Studios (opening March 14, 2008).

Developed in partnership with Fox and Blue Sky Studios, the latest THX trailer features characters based on the beloved Dr. Seuss book, including Horton voiced by Jim Carrey, and the Mayor of Who-Ville voiced by Steve Carell. The trailer will debut in THX Certified Cinemas around the globe beginning this holiday season.

A lot of attention is deservedly being paid to the painterly look of Zack Snyder's adaptation of the Frank Miller graphic novel. Comic-Con Sees Stars, 2D Officially Back at Disney

In an animation panel, Kevin Koch, head of the Animation Guild, said that a new 2D film, titled, THE FROG PRINCESS, is in development at Disney. Moreover, Eric Goldberg, who has returned to Disney to work on animated shorts, said that LITTLE MERMAID directors Ron Clements and John Musker will be helming the film. Additionally, Chuck Williams will be heading up a shorts programing at the Mouse House.

Frozen Moon Prods. Ltd. is hosting the Movie Trailer Showdown Competition. As an individual, team or company, the contest challenges entrants to make a film trailer no longer than 1.5 minutes.

It can be made in live action, animation, string puppets and it can even be a combination of these techniques. The festival will take the form of a tournament, similar to the world cup. There will be 32 films short listed and each entry will be randomly entered into eight groups of four, the winners of these groups will progress to the quarter, semi then final stage
