Cartoon Network to Air Land Before Time Series
Marking the first major milestone for Universal's newly formed family entertainment label, Universal Studios Home Ent. Family Prods. (USHEFP) announced that it has commenced production on 26 episodes of a new animated TV series, THE LAND BEFORE TIME. The series is slated to debut on Cartoon Network in 2007 and will be subsequently distributed on DVD by Universal.
Final Call for Free 7 Month VFX Course
Escape Studios, Skillset and six major U.K. post houses are still looking for entries to the Visual Effects Production Grade. Starting in October 2005, the VFX PG combines five months full time training and a two-month work placement in the post-production industry. Throughout this time not only will the training be free, but students will also be paid.
To be eligible you must be an experienced Maya user and an EU National.
Time Warp Trio Transmits History Adventures Via Discovery Kids on NBC
TIME WARP TRIO combines humor and great stories to ignite kids interest in history in a new action-adventure animated series, which debuted on the Discovery Kids on NBC Saturday morning block on July 9, 2005. SIGGRAPH 2005 Announces ‘Threading Time’ Art Gallery
The SIGGRAPH 2005 Art Gallery: Threading Time will showcase digital artwork that maps or traces threads through time and space. Six world-renowned artists were invited to exhibit their works in the SIGGRAPH 2005 Art Gallery in addition to the featured juried works. A record number of 1,100 pieces were submitted from which 53 artists were chosen. Works include 11 Art animations, six Art Papers, three Art Symposia discussions, six Art Installations (to be shown in the adjoining Emerging Technologies area) and three distributed performances on Access Grid.

Sony Pushes Panther to 2006
Sony Pictures Releasing has pushed the release of THE PINK PANTHER from Aug. 5 to Feb. 10, 2006, according to trades. Sony acquired the Shawn Levy-directed/ Steve Martin-starrer through its purchase on MGM.
"With the recent acquisition of MGM, we wanted to give our marketing department the time and opportunity to launch this very important franchise," said Sony Pictures Releasing president Rory Bruer. "We've seen the movie, and we really love this film. It's a franchise we believe in and are really excited about, and Steve Martin is great as Clouseau."
Kids’ WB! Shrinks Weekdays & Expands on Saturdays in 2006
The WB Television Network will replace the Kids WB!, 3-5:00 pm timeslot with a branded general entertainment programming block Monday through Friday for its affiliate group of over 200 television stations beginning January 2006, it was announced today (may 31, 2005) by Garth Ancier, chairman of The WB. At the same time, the Kids WB! Saturday morning lineup, considered primetime for kids programming, will expand from four to five hours, running from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm, noon.

Discovery Kids and WGBH are currently in production on an original new animated series, TIME WARP TRIO, that will debut on Discovery Kids on NBC this July. Kids television producer WGBH created the series, based on a popular book series, in association with Soup2Nuts.

DONNIE DARKO, Richard Kellys disturbing 2001 indie cult about teen angst, time tripping and a giant demonic rabbit, hit a little too close to home with its eerie 9/11 parallels. Plus its confusing, elliptical narrative polarized moviegoers. Still, this 88 treatise on urban legends starring Jake Gyllenhaal became an instant one itself, prompting further elaboration in this expanded cut. Released theatrically last year and released on DVD Feb.

Featuring the voice talent of Oscar nominee Michael Clarke Duncan (THE GREEN MILE) and Camryn Manheim (THE PRACTICE), the new direct-to-video marks the 11th installment of the most successful feature-length children's video franchise of all time. Neon Genesis Evangelion Tops 25 Anime of All Time List
NEON GENESIS EVANGELION topped the NEWTYPE USA readers list of top anime of all time. The publication ran a three-month open ballot to celebrate its second year of publication.
Coming in at No. 2 with more than 11,700 votes cast was COWBOY BEBOP, a perennial favorite that combines Western themes with sci-fi motifs and jazzy music. And the third favorite anime of all time: INUYASHA, the long-running adventure starring a modern schoolgirl and a feudal half-demon dog boy. Rounding out the top five are RUROUNI KENSHIN and TRIGUN.
