Ted Turner To Step Down As Vice Chairman Of AOL Time Warner

The exodus from AOL Time Warner continues with the announcement that Ted Turner has decided to step down as vice chairman of AOL Time Warner. This follows the highly publicized departure of chairman Steve Case, who earlier this month announced his departure from the company amid criticism from shareholders. AOL's stock has fallen 70% since it acquired Time Warner in 2001. Turner was rumored as a possible replacement for Case, but the newly-created position of chairman and chief executive officer went to CEO Dick Parsons.

Dick Parsons Named Chairman/CEO AOL Time Warner

The Board of Directors of AOL Time Warner Inc. has unanimously elected CEO Dick Parsons to the newly-combined position of chairman and chief executive officer. The appointment will become effective at the May 16, 2003 annual shareholders meeting, which is when Steve Case will step down as chairman, as previously announced. AOL's stock has fallen 70% since it acquired Time Warner in 2001, a consequence many stockholders had blamed on Case, a major architect of the merger. Case will remain a director of the company and will continue to co-chair the merger strategy committee.

The Simpson's Pick Up First Golden Globe Nom

Everyone's favorite dysfunctional family got the nod from the Hollywood Foreign Press for the first time. On December 19, 2002, the nominees for the 60th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced, and FOX's THE SIMPSONS is the only animated entry nominated for Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy. It is joined in this category by the live-action comedy series HBO's CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM and SEX AND THE CITY and NBC's FRIENDS and WILL & GRACE. While THE SIMPSONS is a nine time Emmy Award winner for Best Animated Series, this is the first time The Golden Globes have acknowledged the show.

The Shop Makes Time For Henson’s Time Dogs

C21 Media reports that Jim Henson Pictures' TIME DOGS will be the first project for The Shop Productions, a new Canadian animation company set up by former Mainframe Entertainment president and CEO Ian Pearson. The CG animated comedy was written by Christopher Leone and Laura Harkcom and stars Zack and Dingo, a real dog and a robot dog. The two friends must travel through time to save their master, inventor Dr Quirk, and all dogs from a life of slavery under the Grand High Dogcatcher.

Cinesite Makes Time Stand Still For Clockstoppers

In the newly-released Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies film CLOCKSTOPPERS, Zak Gibbs (Jesse Bradford) finds an odd wristwatch amidst his father's various inventions and discovers he can use it to freeze time -- with the help of the visual effects experts at Cinesite. "Clockstoppers was one of the most challenging and complicated visual effects projects I've ever worked on," said effects supervisor Mike Fink.

Dic Partners With Dentsu, Creates T.I.M.E.

DIC Entertainment and Japans Dentsu have formed a strategic alliance under which Dentsu will co-produce and handle Japanese and Asian distribution of DICs new animated series ALIENATORS: EVOLUTION CONTINUES. Dentsu will also be responsible for television, home video distribution and licensing for DICs MADELINE in Japan. DIC has also joined forces with U.K.-based media/marketing outfit Universal McCann and Cereal Partners Worldwide to form The International Media Exchange (TIME).

THQ Inc. and Saban Consumer Products have announced the release of POWER RANGERS TIME FORCE for PC. Now in its 9th television season, POWER RANGERS is still one of the highest rated TV shows for boys 2-11 according to the Nielsen ratings. Oxygen Media And AOL Time Warner Expand Their Alliance

AOL Time Warner and Oxygen Media announced April 3, that they will expand their existing online strategic alliance to include extensive cable distribution of Oxygen TV to the vast majority of Time Warner Cable households. America Online will also make an equity investment in Oxygen. As part of the multi-year agreement, Oxygen TV programming will be available to 10 million cable subscribers by third quarter, 2002. Time Warner Cable is the nation's second-largest cable operator.

Fox Kids' Flint Flies Onto Home Video

ADV Films released two new volumes of the anime series FLINT: THE TIME DETECTIVE. Hitting stores March 27, 2001, the time-traveling adventures of the little caveman return in "The Sands of Time" and "Can't We All Get Along?" The series currently airs on Fox Kids and is produced by Sanrio, the creators of HELLO KITTY. Both volumes will sell on VHS and DVD for US$14.98.
