Sony Pictures Studios to Offer Twilight Tours

Sony Pictures Studios announced that beginning June 14, 2007, visitors will be able to take Twilight Tours of the historic studio every Thursday through September 28.

"From THE WIZARD OF OZ to SPIDER-MAN 3, this is the lot where dreams are made," said Pam Byrne, director of Studio Services. "Now people can enjoy warm summer evenings by experiencing the glamour and history of Sony Pictures Studios. Our Twilight Tours offer the perfect opportunity to treat family, friends and out-of-town guests to a one-of-a-kind, unforgettable Hollywood experience."

Digital 04 Studios announced the official launch of the //ADAPT 2007 Conference website and a preview to the program outline for the event, taking place at the Hyatt Regency Montreal, on Sept. 24-28. Marvel Shuffles Exec Deck

Mort Handel, chairman, Marvel Ent., announced that David Maisel has been named chairman, Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige has been named president of production.

Maisel joined Marvel in Dec. 2003. He was responsible for the conception and execution of the company's new film production initiative, including the establishment of the $525 million non-recourse loan facility to finance that strategy.

Heartwood Studios to Create 3D Visualization of New Dallas Cowboys Stadium

The Dallas Cowboys have commissioned Heartwood Studios to create all 3D visualization marketing collateral and a 3D Web Ticketing Engine for the new Cowboys Stadium, scheduled for completion in 2009.

The scope of the project will include: 3D incorporation of aerial footage shot by helicopter, exclusive renderings of luxury box suites and more than 525 separate views of the stadium from various vantage points, including seats, the concourse and suites.

Universal Tags Boom! Studios Comic

Universal Pictures has tapped Carey Malloy to adapt Boom! Studios' horror comicbook TAG for the big screen, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Marc Platt will produce alongside Ross Richie and Andrew Cosby of Boom Ent. Inc.

Written by Keith Giffen and drawn by Kody Chamberlain, the comic tells the story of an average Joe who while walking down the street one night is tagged by a stranger, giving him a pagan curse that makes him begin to decompose before his eyes.

Donna Langley, Jeff Kirschenbaum and David Ortiz will shepherd for the studio.

Cars Leads Annie Nominees

ASIFA-Hollywood has announced the nominees for the 34th Annual Annie Awards with Disney/Pixar's CARS leading all nominees with nine nods. However, fellow feature films OVER THE HEDGE and FLUSHED AWAY were close behind with eight nominations apiece while MONSTER HOUSE and OPEN SEASON garnered six nods each. In the television category, FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS led all other nominees with five nominations.

Universal & Fox Drop Halo

Microsofts feature film adaptation of HALO has lost a lot of its sheen with its studios Fox and Universal backing out, reports VARIETY.

Both studios had agreed to co-finance the film, which had a budget growing north of its initial $135 million pricetag. However, the real reason the studios jumped ship was due to their unsuccessful attempt to get Microsoft and the producers to lower their profit participation.

Austin’s D7 Studios Releases Animated Series Free Online at D7.Com

Austin-based D7 Studios, an independent animation company that completed the first-ever animated Coca-Cola/NASCAR commercial for the Daytona 500 in 2005, is releasing the first chapter of its new animated show, D7PEACEMAKER REVELATION, in hi-def for download, and broadcast on the Web for free in a scaled-down version at www.D7.com.

Created independently, the series features an anime style with an American plot. Written, directed, and animated solely by Arik Renee Avila, the series is produced by Tony Hobdy and Robin Bookwalter.
