New Line Cinema has killed the screen adaptation of Steve Alten's MEG novels at the studio, the author reports in his newsletter. New Line's option for the books is set to expire in October and the studio has decided not to go forth into production. Originally, Jan De Bont was set to direct. WGBH Boston and Canada's Studio B Prods. Inc. have teamed up to develop and co-produce a new animated series based on the award-winning MARTHA SPEAKS children's book series by Susan Meddaugh, for public television in fall 2008.
