NewTek Ships TriCaster STUDIO

NewTek Inc. has shipped TriCaster STUDIO, a turnkey portable, live production and virtual set system that provides a whole new level of capability to video and live event producers. The combination of portability and ease of set-up with the extensive live production capabilities of TriCaster STUDIO NewTek claims video producers to broadcast and web stream events and content at levels previously considered prohibitive.

Brown Bag Films Expands To Smithfield Market in Dublin

Oscar-nominated producer of short film GIVE UP YER AUL SINS, Brown Bag Films, has opened a new animation studio at Smithfield Market in Dublin, Ireland.

The studio was founded in 1994 by Cathal Gaffney and Darragh O'Connell. Now with the new Smithfield office, the company will employ 53 people.

The new office is Ireland's first hi-def animation and post house.

The company is working on production of its first animated TV series, I'M AN ANIMAL, which has already sold to 140 countries.

Fox Pulls Out of Comic-Con

With only a week to go before the big event, 20th Century Fox has pulled out of Comic-Con, reports THE LOS ANGELES TIMES. The studio had previously announced a star-filled preview of some of its upcoming films for Friday, June 27, 2007, in the main hall of the San Diego Convention Center.

MEG Dies at New Line

New Line Cinema has killed the screen adaptation of Steve Alten's MEG novels at the studio, the author reports in his newsletter. New Line's option for the books is set to expire in October and the studio has decided not to go forth into production. Originally, Jan De Bont was set to direct. New Line had obtained the rights to the project in turnaround from Disney in 2005.

Studio Arts Offers 'Tra-Digital' & Advanced ZBrush Classes This Summer

Studio Arts will start its latest round of classes for summer 2007 quarter commencing Monday, July 9. 2007.

Of special interest are several specially-designed 2D "tradigital" animation classes in Flash for TV, Bauhaus Mirage and Adobe AfterEffects. Beginning in fall, Studio Arts will round its 2D computer animation curriculum with its new series of Toon Boom 2D courses.

WGBH & Studio B to Produce Martha Speaks Animated Series For Public TV

WGBH Boston and Canada's Studio B Prods. Inc. have teamed up to develop and co-produce a new animated series based on the award-winning MARTHA SPEAKS children's book series by Susan Meddaugh, for public television in fall 2008.

The property will be developed into 40 half-hour episodes, designed to enrich children's vocabulary within the context of compelling stories. Studio B has international distribution rights for the property.

Oneida Legend Comes to 3D-Animated Life

The Oneida Indian Nation's Four Directions Prods. today (April 12, 2007) announced completion of its first 3D animated short film, which tells the ancient Oneida legend of RACCOON AND CRAWFISH. The eight-minute film will debut at the Syracuse International Film Festival on April 18, 2007.

The project represents a new milestone for the up-and-coming studio, according to Dale Rood, director of studio operations for Four Directions Prods. and a Turtle Clan representative to the Nation's Men's Council.

Toho Announces Details of Miyazaki's Next Film

Toho has announced that in summer 2008 it will release Hayao Miyazaki's latest feature, GAKE NO UE NO PONYO (PONYO ON A CLIFF). Studio Ghibli is of course producing.

The follow-up to his $169 million worldwide grosser HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE will follows Ponyo, a goldfish princess that wants to become human. Miyazaki will also write the original story. A five-year-boy, who befriends Ponyo in the story, is based on his grandson, who is the son of Goro Miyazaki, the director the animated feature TALES FROM EARTHSEA.
