Animation World Network and VFXWorld are proud to announce that we are a special media sponsor for the Visual Effects Societys eDIT 8. Filmmakers Festival in Frankfurt, Germany, Oct. 9-11, 2005. We will be sponsoring eDward VI, a young filmmakers contest and awards which celebrates the work of talented artists under the age of 30. Filmmakers from all over the world participate each year, creating 30-second films based on the given theme.
The FAIRLY ODDPARENTS special to air June 10, 2005 at 8:00 pm on Nickelodeon will be music to the ears of big musical and series fans as the animated gang breaks into song after song for an hour in "Schools Out! The Musical." There is a ton of music in this ambitious special, 11 musical numbers, ranging from pop to rap to classic show tunes. The show takes place on the last day of school in Dimsdale, as Timmy Turner and his friends want to start summer vacation. The show repeats June 11 at 7:00 pm and June 12 at 4:00 pm.
Starlight Home Ent. has released the childrens classic DAVEY AND GOLIATH VOLUME 1 on DVD. The nostalgic stop-motion animated series will be released in a special edition collectors set loaded with tons of extras. DAVEY AND GOLIATH originally aired on network TV from 1960-1975, with special seasonal TV airings seen throughout the years. VOLUME 1 will hit shelves on June 7, 2005, and sell for $19.99.
MoCCA will launch a traveling exhibition honoring Will Eisner. The career-spanning exhibit features original artwork hand-selected by Eisner right before his death in January, including two complete seven page stories from 1947. A special opening reception for the exhibit, attended by Will Eisner's wife Anne and special guests, will be held at the museum on the evening of May 21. A reception will take place from 8:00 pm

Ed, Edd and Eddy take a big whiff of Valentine love in HANKY PANKY HULLABALOO, a new 30-minute special makes its debut Feb. 11, 2005, airing at 7:00 pm, 9:00 pm and 11:30 pm with a replay on Valentines Day, Feb. 14, at 7:30 pm.
On Valentines Day at Peach Creek High, lanky Ed is bracing himself for the inevitable assault of kisses from May Kanker. Eddy wants to turn the days romantic yearnings into cold, hard cash. Double-D sees the day as a chance to let that special someone know you care.
The Scooby Gang returns to The WB for some heartly laughs and adventures in the half-hour special A SCOOBY-DOO VALENTINE, Feb. 11, 2005, at 8:30 pm. The primetime special also will have an encore presentation during The WBs EASY VIEW on Feb. 13 at 5:00 pm. This brand new program, produced by Warner Bros. Animation, features JC Chasez, from mega-group NSYNC, making a special animated appearance as himself and the star-studded love interest of Shaggys ex-girlfriend.

THE ULTIMATE MATRIX COLLECTION (Warner Home Video), THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING SPECIAL EXTENDED EDITION (NEW LINE HOME ENT.), THE STAR WARS TRILOGY (Fox Home Ent.) and MARY POPPINS 40TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION (Buena Vista Home Ent.) have scored major nominations for the Fourth Annual DVD Exclusive Awards.
The 2004 DVD Exclusive Awards, sponsored by DVD EXCLUSIVE magazine, a sister publication to VARIETY, will be presented on Feb. 8, 2005, at the Annenberg Building at the California Science Center near the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
MTV International and is making the holidays merrier by airing a HAPPY TREE FRIENDS half-hour holiday special produced by Mondo Media Productions. HAPPY TREE FRIENDS WINTER BREAK is running exclusively on 15 participating MTV Intl channels from Dec. 10-30, 2004. MTV 2 (U.S.) just came on board to air the holiday special six times, commencing Dec. 24.
The holiday season's perennially popular original dancing snowman skates on the edge of danger in the 2D animated musical special FROSTY RETURNS, to be rebroadcast Dec. 3, 2004 at 8:30 pm on the CBS. This half-hour special is the follow-up to FROSTY THE SNOWMAN, the holiday classic special narrated by Jimmy Durante, to be rebroadcast as a lead-in at 8:00 pm.
Snow descends upon the eternal summerland of the cul-de-sac in the new, half-hour HOLIDAY SPECIAL ED, EDD N EDDY'S JINGLE, JINGLE, JANGLE, airing Dec. 3, 2004, at 8:00 pm on Cartoon Network.
At 7:00 pm, Caroline's Comedy Club will host a special "Roast of Bill Plympton" in conjunction with the New York Comedy Festival. This is the first time that Caroline's has ever roasted an animator. Special guest roasters will include Martha Plimpton, Lisa Lampanelli, John Dilworth, Signe Baumane and Dan Piraro. There will be more special guests and surprises. DPS Film Roman, an IDT Ent. company, and recent Emmy award winner, Harry Connick Jr., will join forces to co-produce THE HAPPY ELF, a one-hour 3D animated holiday special based on Connick's original children's song from his 2003 release, HARRY FOR THE HOLIDAYS. HC Prods., whose partners include Connick, Scott Landis and Ann Marie Wilkins, will co-produce.
The 2004 Ottawa International Animation Festival announced the winners of the official competition during its closing ceremonies held Sept. 26, 2004 at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Taking the top prize was Chris Landreths groundbreaking short RYAN, an animated documentary about the famed NFB animator Ryan Larkin.
VIZ, LLC has teamed with Borders Group Inc., (BGI), the parent company of Borders and Waldenbooks, to co-promote the INUYASHA DVD and manga titles. The offerings will include the new feature film, INUYASHA: AFFECTIONS TOUCHING ACROSS TIME, the INUYASHA First Season DVD box set and a special Graphic Novel box set, which includes Vol. 19 and a limited edition INUYASHA figurine.
The Special Extended DVD Edition of THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS, from New Line Home Ent., is the top contender in the 7th Annual DVD Awards with Leonard Maltin, leading all entries with six nominations. Maltin will preside for the fifth consecutive year at the DVD Awards Ceremony, the August 30 opening night event of the new Entertainment Media Expo (EMX), at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel here, Aug. 30 through Sept. 1, 2004.
Aside from being a charming Irish fairy tale about leprechauns and banshees and co-starring Sean Connery, the soon-to-be James Bond, DARBY O'GILL AND THE LITTLE PEOPLE (1959) was also one of Walt Disney's personal favorites. Released on DVD on Aug. 3, 2004 DARBY O'GILL (Walt Disney Home Ent., $19.99) is particularly noteworthy for its wonderful work by the legendary Peter Ellenshaw (special photographic effects, special art styling), who collaborated with Eustace Lycett (special photographic effects) and Joshua Meador (animation effects).
Warner Home Video (WHV) will release a special edition DVD of THE IRON GIANT on September 7, 2004. The all-new special features include eight "never-before-seen" scenes, including an alternate opening, all with director commentary, 13 mini-documentaries highlighting key sequences and a featurette, "The Voice Of The Giant," hosted Vin Diesel. This version will be available on DVD for $19.97.
