Prime Focus Technologies Hires Michael Schunk

Press Release from Prime Focus Technologies

May 26, 2009 -- Prime Focus Technologies (PFT), a subsidiary of Prime Focus Group, announced the appointment of Michael Schunk as VP, business development, digital asset management. Schunk will be based out of Prime Focus' North American headquarters in Hollywood, CA, and will report to North American CEO Larry Birstock and PFT President and CEO Ramki Sankaranarayanan. Schunk's role will be focused on developing sales strategy for Digital Asset Management services globally, and driving sales throughout North America.

Prime Focus Wins Filmfare VFX Award

Prime Focus won the prestigious Filmfare award for Best Visual Effects for its work on Bollywood sci-fi movie LOVE STORY 2050. The award was given to Merzin Tavaria, creative head for VFX/Animation at Prime Focus and vfx supervisor on LOVE STORY 2050 at the 54th Filmfare awards night held in Mumbai on February 28, 2009.

Prime Focus Takes Chandni Chowk to China

Prime Focus, India's integrated post production and visual effects services company has delivered an array of post services and more than 1,000 visual effects shots for Bollywood film CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA (CC2C). Co-produced by Warner Bros, CC2C is the biggest internationally exposed film in the history of Indian cinema, the first Bollywood film to be distributed by Warner Bros and the first Indian production to be shot in China.

India's Prime Focus Acquires Post Logic Studios & Frantic Films VFX

India-based Prime Focus Group has expanded its reach into North America with the acquisitions of Post Logic Studios and Frantic Films VFX. Terms were not disclosed and the structure of these acquisitions is yet to be finalized.

Frantic Films also operates live-action production/post-production facilities and a television commercial division that will not be a part of this acquisition, and will continue to operate independently out of Winnipeg and Toronto, Canada.

Nintendo's Epic Trilogy Concludes With Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Nintendo has launched METROID PRIME 3: CORRUPTION for Wii, marking the end of a trilogy. With the motion-sensitive Wii Remote, you become one with heroine Samus Aran's powerful arm cannon, while the Nunchuk can literally yank armor off enemies.

RAI Minus A President Again

Less than a week after Paolo Mieli was appointed president of Italian state broadcaster RAI, the former newspaper editor resigned as head of the network, citing "technical and political" reasons it was reported by the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. The upheaval has been unfolding amid controversy over prime minister Silvio Berlusconi's supposed sway over RAI when he controls Mediaset, RAI's main private rival. Mieli is said to have accepted the post on the condition that he would be free to choose the appointee to the general director post, currently held by Angostino Sacca.
