MAXON to Showcase CINEMA 4D at October Events

qubo Revs Up Its Engines This October With Turbo Dogs

A comical cast of canine friends is bringing high-octane fun to qubo this October with the world television premiere of TURBO DOGS.

This new 3D CG animated series debuts on qubo's broadcast blocks on NBC, ION Television and Telemundo on Friday, October 3 and Saturday, October 4 and follows the antics of Racerville, a wacky dog-filled community that's wild about racing.

Wild Things Added For October 2009

The long-delayed WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE from director Spike Jonze is headed for an October 2009 release date, per COMINGSOON.net.

Warner Bros. has added the film back onto its release schedule after dropping it off a month ago. It's now set for October 16, 2009.

It was originally set for an October 2008 release but was delayed because of reshoots, creative differences between Jonze and the studio and an increasing budget.

Gnomon Fall Registration Begins

Registration for Gnomon School of Visual Effects' fall term 2008 (Monday, September 22 through Sunday, December 7) began on Monday, August 4. Register online, in person, via mail or by fax. Comedy Central announced today that its two popular animated shows, SOUTH PARK and DRAWN TOGETHER, will return with all-new episodes this fall. Cartman and friends will begin their 11th season on Wednesday, October 3 At 10:00 p.m. Season 3B of DRAWN TOGETHER premieres Thursday, October 4 At 10:30 p.m.

Tuesday, October 10, 2006 - Women In Film/Chicago Focus Achievement Awards. Actress/director Bonnie Hunt and television producer Thea Flaum are this year's recipients. Amy Jacobson of NBC5/WMAQ will be emcee for the luncheon gala. The Women In Film/Chicago Focus Award honors women who have contributed significantly to the film, television, advertising and corporate productions industries, and who have a tie to Chicago and the Midwest. This year's luncheon gala award event is Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at the Ritz/Carlton Chicago, 160 East Pearson Street in Chicago.

Cartoon Net To Host Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi Concerts

Cartoon Network will be hosting a series of concerts to promote its newest original animated series--HI HI PUFFY AMIYUMI, premiering Nov. 19 at 7:30 pm. The show is based on the real-life Japanese pop-rock band, PUFFY, which features lead-vocalists Ami and Yumi. PUFFY is an extremely popular band in Asia and is beginning to make a big splash here in the U.S.

The actual band PUFFY will perform three select concerts stateside this fall, featuring top songs from their nine-year career. The dates and locations follow:

Animation Director Urbano Dies At 94

Veteran animator and director Carl Urbano died on October 16, 2003 at the age of 94. Starting in 1931, he worked for Winklers, Van Beuren, Harman-Ising, MGM, Hugh Harman, John Sutherland and Hanna-Barbera. He was awarded the Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Golden Award in 1981.

In the second half of his career, Urbano, along with Ray Patterson and a few others, formed the directing backbone at the Hanna-Barbera studios for nearly three decades, working on such programs as CHALLENGE OF THE SUPERFRIENDS, POPEYE, SCOOBY-DOO, POPEYE and CASPER specials.

MIPCOM Breaks Up The Week With New Dates

MIPCOM, the biggest international TV trade show in Cannes, will run from Friday through Tuesday, October 10-14, 2003 while the 11th kids programming mini-market, MIPCOM Junior, Youth Programs Screenings, will run October 8-9 at the Hotel Martinez. The shows normally run Saturday through Friday. This change is due to the unavailability of the convention center, the Palais des Festival, together with public holidays.
