Nina Hahn to Head Int’l Development for Nickelodeon

Nina Hahn joins MTV Networks in the newly created position of vp, international development, Nickelodeon. Based in London, Hahn will develop relationships and partnerships for international kid-focused creative ideas and talent for development and placement on Nickelodeons channels around the world. She is also charged to ensure that Nickelodeons channels outside the U.S. are more closely connected to the production of key Nick series in the U.S.

Nickelodeon Productions is continuing its search for new creative talent with the Nickelodeon Writing Fellowship Program, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for writers to work full-time developing their craft at Nickelodeon. Now aspiring writers have a few extra days to get their forms filled out and their samples in. The application deadline has been extended to April 29, 2005.

Catscratch Comedy Series Comes to Nick

REN AND STIMPY has returned to the Nickelodeon airwaves and it now has a feline cousin in CATSCRATCH, a new series created by Doug TenNapel which resembles it remarkably in design, cartoony gags and character expressions. This is also not your typical kids fare and is appropriately scheduled in primetime, Fridays at 8:30 pm. The premiere episodes were broadcast back-to-back, 8-9:00 pm on July 9, 2005.

Nickelodeon introduces an offering of paid downloadable games for kids on Nick.com and Nickjr.com with the re-launch of Nick Arcade (www.nickarcade.com/) on July 1. To introduce the gaming platform, Nick Online has partnered with industry leaders Big Fish Games and TryMedia.

Nick Orders 20 New Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends Episodes

Nickelodeon has ordered 20 new episodes of MISS SPIDER'S SUNNY PATCH FRIENDS, a 3D animated co-production from Nelvana/Absolute Pictures, which airs weekdays on Nick Jr. at 10:00 am. The series is based on the beloved book series by David Kirk (published by Callaway & Kirk).

"Miss Spider's message of friendship and kindness to fellow bugs is an important one for all of us ... bug or human!" said Brown Johnson, exec creative director, Nickelodeon Preschool Television. "It's great to be working with Nelvana and David Kirk on another season of this beautiful series."

Nickelodeon has partnered with Chevrolet in a multi-million advertising and promotional multiplatform deal.

Nickelodeon Returning to Germany

MIP-TV attendees, especially German broadcasters, were speculating on MTV Networks Europe (MTVNE) recent announcement that it will launch a Nickelodeon kids' channel and website in Germany Sept. 12, 2005, as part of the company's commitment to providing high quality, complementary programming on its four channels in the market. A new cross-brand advertising sales house, Viacom Brand Solutions, has been created to market the portfolio of channels.

Prism & Nickelodeon Roll Out The Bin Weevils

Prism Ent. and Nickelodeon U.K., are rolling out their online kids environment the BIN WEEVILS into new territories in a far-reaching agreement with pan-European kids network, Nickelodeon Europe. From early 2005, children visiting the Websites of Nickelodeon channels in Sweden, Italy and Spain will all be able to join in the comedy-driven animated characters. Nickelodeon has ordered two new animated series, THE XS, a stylish series about a crime-fighting family who must thwart the forces of evil while still functioning as an average suburban family, and CATSCRATCH, featuring three fumbling felines who carry on in a world of humans. In addition, hit Nicktoon DANNY PHANTOM has been picked up for a second season of 20 episodes, bringing the total episode order to 40 and tween favorite MY LIFE AS A TEENAGE ROBOT has been picked up for an additional 14 episodes, bringing its total number of episodes picked up to 40.

Following the recent integration of Paramount Parks and Viacom Consumer Products under the leadership of Nickelodeon Networks president Herb Scannell, Leigh Anne Brodsky and Al Weber have been promoted to new positions, consolidating the leadership of the licensing and recreation businesses under Nickelodeon Enterprises, the ancillary business unit of Nickelodeon Networks. Nickelodeon Videogame Master License Decision Nearing

In response to recent speculation about its master videogame licensing agreement, Herb Scannell, president, Nickelodeon Networks, said that Nickelodeon was working closely with several parties and was in the final stages of licensing rights to develop videogames based on Nickelodeon animated properties. Scannell indicated that the process would be supervised by independent directors of Viacom and that no decision had yet been made as to which videogame publisher would receive the rights.

Nickelodeon has taken the plunge, ordering 20 new episodes of SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, one of the most popular kids' shows in television history, adventures to premiere on in 2005.

Series creator Stephen Hillenburg will continue to exec produce the all-new nautical and nonsensical episodes featuring the original voice cast including Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs and Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks.
