The Nickelodeon Writing Fellowship

Nickelodeon is offering writing fellowships in live-action and animated television to culturally and ethnically diverse, new writers. Participants will have hands-on experience writing spec scripts and pitching story ideas.

The program, developed to broaden Nickelodeon's outreach efforts, provides a salaried position for up to one year. The '07 - '08 cycle is tentatively scheduled to begin in Oct. 2007.

The next submission period runs from Jan. 2 -- Feb. 28, 2007. Applications and submission guidelines are available at www.nickwriting.com.

Brown Johnson to Lead Nick Jr. & NOGGIN Teams Merged as Nickelodeon Preschool

Nick Jr. and NOGGIN will blend their creative and management teams into a unified group -- Nickelodeon Preschool, the largest preschool and parent's destination in the world -- with 109 hours of preschool television a week, representing 56% of all preschool programming on television. DreamWorks' Panda & Madagascar Spinning TV Series on Nick

Nickelodeon and DreamWorks Animation are teaming on possible weekly series based on DreamWorks animated features, KUNG FU PANDA and MADAGASCAR, confirms Nickelodeon. First reported in VARIETY, the MADAGASCAR spinoff will chronicle the adventures of its penguin characters � Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private.

Nick will handle the day-to-day development of the series, but plans to outsource the actual CG production.

Brian Offutt, the former head of Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products' Los Angeles office, has relocated to New York City as svp, entertainment products, to oversee the NVCP home entertainment, publishing and record business for Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Noggin and The N, as well as the home video/DVD, book publishing and videogame businesses for Comedy Central, Spike TV and TV Land and the book publishing business for Paramount. THQ Inc. announced a new design feature that links multiple titles in THQ's Nickelodeon videogame lineup for the PlayStation 2, enabling expanded game play and special features for consumers who own more than one of the titles. THQ's Nickelodeon games that incorporate this special Cross Save feature include TAK: THE GREAT JUJU CHALLENGE, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS: LIGHTS, CAMERA PANTS!, NICKTOONS UNITE! and BARNYARD, based on Paramount Pictures'/Nickelodeon Movies' upcoming theatrical release.
