Tiger's Apprentice Leaps To Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network announced its latest live-action/CGI movie based on the bestselling young adult Harper Collins book TIGER'S APPRENTICE by Lawrence Yep. Oscar-nominated screenwriter David Magee (FINDING NEVERLAND) adapted the award-winning book into a feature script optioned by Cartoon Network.

Jane Startz (TUCK EVERLASTING, INDIAN IN THE CUPBOARD) will exec produce the project. Set to premiere in 2010, TIGER'S APPRENTICE is now in pre-production with staffing and casting currently underway at Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank, California.

Tropic Thunder's Visual Effects Play Up The Laughs

Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. lead an ensemble cast in DreamWorks Pictures' TROPIC THUNDER, an action comedy about a group of self-absorbed actors who set out to make the biggest war film ever. After ballooning costs (and the out of control egos of the pampered cast) threaten to shut down the movie, the frustrated director refuses to stop shooting, leading his cast deep into the jungles of Southeast Asia for "increased realism," where they inadvertently encounter real bad guys.

Voices Return For Space Chimps Video Game

Talent from the upcoming animated movie, SPACE CHIMPS, will be featured in the videogame of the same name. Cheryl Hines (CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, RV) and Patrick Warburton (BEE MOVIE, SEINFELD) reprise their roles from the movie, Luna and Titan respectively, for the videogame.

Based on the film produced by Vanguard Animation and presented by Starz Animation, the videogame is slated for release on July 15, 2008, just days before the film's July 18, 2008 debut.

For BATMAN fans everywhere, there is no film more highly anticipated this summer than THE DARK KNIGHT. Stuntman Killed On Set Of Woo's Red Cliff

A stuntman was killed and six people were injured Monday during second-unit filming on director John Woo's THE BATTLE OF RED CLIFF, per VARIETY.

For the most expensive movie in Chinese -- and Asian -- history, the death of the 23-year-old is another unfortunate setback. Production has been hampered by everything from cast changes to bad weather.

Movie Lovers Name Indiana Jones' Greatest Moments In Survey From Blockbuster

Movie lovers are saying that Indiana Jones may have enough gray hair to be a classic, but they also overwhelmingly agree he's a modern-day hero that still captures their hearts and imaginations.

Blockbuster revealed the results of a survey in which film buffs gave "classic" status to several scenes from the first three Indiana Jones movies. The survey also reveals that fans still see Indy as a bonafide action hero, even if he has aged since his first film came out more than 25 years ago.

Cartoon Network Snaps Up Mini LEGO Indy Movie

LEGO animation lovers, grab your bomber jackets, whips and TV remotes. The newest CG animation LEGO mini movie, LEGO INDIANA JONES AND THE RAIDERS OF THE LOST BRICK, will premiere as a commercial event within the Cartoon Network Toonami programming block Saturday, May 10 at 9 p.m.

The event, running four minutes in length, will be hosted by Shia LaBeouf, star of the much-anticipated feature film INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL.

Bee Movie Gets A DVD Buzz

BEE MOVIE was the toast of the DVD world last week, when the Paramount/DreamWorks comedy topped the national DVD sales chart in its first week in release, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

That makes it the biggest comedy to be released on DVD so far this year, as well as the biggest family movie.

BEE MOVIE generated a combined total of about $50 million in consumer spending in its first week. That's 40 percent of its theatrical gross of $126.6 million.

Fending off several new titles, THE SIMPSONS MOVIE remained the top selling DVD in the U.S. for the week ending Dec. 30, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. RUSH HOUR 3 and THE KINGDOM debuted at #2 and #3, respectively. The next three slots went to summer blockbusters HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END, which was the top-selling Blu-ray title of the week. THE KINGDOM was the #1 HD DVD.
